Publisher's Summary

Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she's built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they've ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he's back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn't have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

Exciting and hot

I have been dying for Maisy’s story. A woman that is forced to make impossible choices but still comes out on top. Now it’s her turn for love. But of course it can’t be that easy. Hunter comes into her life and it’s instant connection. What happens after is chuck full of action and intensity and crazy chemistry.

Ava and Aiden are perfection. Ava has played the role of each female character perfectly. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her. Aiden was Hunter personified. Loved it.

Loved the narration as much as the story!

Audiobook: Narrated by Ava Erikson and Aiden Snow

OMG!!! I loved the narration of this book! Both of these narrators added a whole new depth and dimension to the story. I couldn’t have asked for a better duo for Maisy and Hunter. Ava, as always, is spot on with each character while Aiden was the perfect voice of Hunter. I often need a chapter or two, if not more, to adjust to the voices but there was no struggle here. It started smoothly and continued on. Absolutely loved this audio!!!

Where to even start? This was the most amazing book! I absolutely loved everything about it! Every. Single. Thing.

Maisy Holt is a survivor and a savior. She survived Everett and while doing so saved her son Coby. It took a few years and life changes before she was “okay”, and everyone in Prescott will tell you that she’s moved on and all of that nastiness is in the past. With her to-do list and her renovations, the Bitterroot Inn has been her saving grace. Even if she occasionally feels a twinge of envy when in the presence of her friends and family and their significant others, she’s not quite ready to actively pursue a relationship. That is, until Hunter Faraday walks into her lobby.

Hunter has a deep dark secret that he’s keeping close. Protecting it until the time is right, as if there could ever be such a time. He was drawn to Maisy the first time he laid eyes on her and now that he’s returned to Prescott he finds himself pulled to her against all common sense and self-warnings. From the moment he heard her laughter and saw her smile he belonged to her. But how can a man build a relationship with the woman of his heart when he’s forced to hold so much of himself back?

I cannot say how much I adored these characters! My heart hurt for Maisy as I learned some of the techniques she had indulged in to help her deal with the effects Everett’s words had on her. On the surface she is a woman of strength but as the story progresses that strength grows and takes root deep inside of her. Hunter comes with quite a bit of baggage himself and my heart was heavy when all of his secrets were revealed. Ultimately, he was a man deeply in love and prepared to do whatever it took to make things right. That right there feeds my romantic soul. Hunter never once gave up and he made sure Maisy knew that he never would. Sigh.

Some interesting things I learned from The Bitterroot Inn:

Kicking a man in the cojones can be a precursor to falling in love

You can forget Santa Claus if you’ve got The Package Man - get your minds out of the gutter

Nervous energy can be transmitted from the page into your body resulting in tapping feet, bouncing legs and chewed off nails – Ms. Perry owes me a manicure

One text message can turn you into a sobbing mess – oh gawd that text killed me!

With just a look, I’m already in love with Mason Drummond

And the perfect epilogue can make you smile even as you weep because it is just…so…perfect.

Thank you Devney Perry for introducing me to all of the Jamison Valley characters that were parading in your head. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know them and while I will certainly revisit them in the future, I am saddened that for now the door is closing on this beautiful and amazing series.

So good!

I’ve listened to the entire series and I’m sad it’s over! Love love loved this addition to the series. Maizie and hunter’s story is swoon worthy as are all the love stories in Prescott! So we’ll written. So much emotion. Just so. So. Good.

I have my fingers crossed for another book or two... micheal and the vet need a story and Rowan and mason too! Please!!!!!!

The Bitterroot Inn

I have to admit I was worried, the last 2 book were just ok for me. But I LOVED the first 2 and well I was invested in this series so I had to see how it was going to play out.

I am so glad I took the leap this book is as good as the first two in my opinion.

Maisy is a favorite of mine and someone I wanted to get her HEA from very early on. I am kind of glad she was the last book because she had time to grow as a character and we got to see it. Her book is everything I hoped it would be and more.

I loved Coby, he was the cutest little kid ever. I am a huge fan when authors add kids into the mix and not only that but when they are rooted in the story and not thought of as a side character.

When we meet Hunter you just have this feeling that he is going to mend Maisy’s heart and she doesn’t even know it yet. What hooked me was the way he was with Coby and you can feel the love he has for him right away.

Sigh so glad I listened to this book and the narration… Oh, it will sweep you off your feet. Fantastic choice in the narration.

A good story

On chapter 5 right now. Hunter's backstory is intriguing. Why is he there for Maisy and what relation is he to Kobe?

Maisy is so sweet. She deserves her HEA. The connection between Hunter and Everett is interest as well as Hunters's past relationship with Prescott.

it took me a bit to get into this one as I did jot really get how Maisy had no idea Hunter had been in town before or really anything about him.

It made sense when it was finally explained and I am glad I held out. Beau & Sabrina are still my favorite but this story fits well with the rest.

Not sure I will read/listen to The Candle Palace as it really seems out of order being last. Wish it would have come out earlier. Milo & Sarah don't have a strong role in any of the other Jamison Valley books.

Beautiful story

Devney writes such beautiful, heartfelt stories and this one is no different. Guarded mom, Maisy, has a single minded goal - to provide a great life for her son. Her tireless work keeping up the Bitter Root Inn doesn't go unnoticed but has become an unhealthy escape from a troubling past. When a mysterious and attractive guest shows up at the inn sparks fly. Hunter burrows his way into Maisy and Coby's life showing them what a whole family can be. But shadows from Hunters past infiltrate their lives causing confusion and doubt. Can their new love survive?

Believe me, you'll love. The performance was 10 out of 10. And Aiden Snow whispering in your ear doesn't hurt ;)

Awesome

Maisie has overcome so much - she’s raising her young son and she’s running her business. She’s never really addressed what happened in her past. But she’s happy. Along comes Hunter and he challenges what happy looks like, and her son really loves him. Is it time to think about taking the next step?
Oh my. I love Maisie! You’ll love her too!

"One day at a time"

4.5 Stars!
We have seen Maisy in previous books in this series and have a general idea of her story. Due to her past she is a single mom focused on making the inn she is running a success. She has her family and friends and after the string of disastrous dates she is putting finding a mate on the back burner. She throws herself into work to deal with all her emotions. This is all thrown out the window the day Hunter checks into her inn for an extended stay. Hunter and Maisy are dealing with their past and emotional baggage in two different ways. I love the concern that Maisy has for her son. Although through the story you know Hunter is a mystery and he is holding back something major, I was happy how it was all revealed. I love the chemistry and love between the pair. I love the progression of the relationship and how they worked throughs the highs and lows the way they did. Great story!

Secret past romance. 1POV. HEA. Standalone.

This is a Sexy, troubled past love story. The sort is set in a small town in Nebraska. Maisy is a single mom, and owner of the town’s motel. Hunter is a stranger that is “new” in town and he has been infatuated with Maisy since the first time had had seen her. Hunter checks into her motel and the couple fall in love. However there is a secret that Hunter is keeping from Maisy bc he knows if he tells her, she won’t want to see him again. Usually I get annoyed at past secrets bc most times they are blown out of proportion, but this secret is pretty big. Unfortunately I gave the story only four stars bc when Hunter was ready to tell Maisy, he hadn’t had the “opportunity “ for a whole month.

Narration is pretty great!

The HEA was pretty fulfilling, it was set 7 years in the future. Although this is a standalone, there are other books in the series. Overall is was a pretty easy listen.

Breathtaking

This series was one of the best I’ve read/listened to. I have fallen in love with every one of these characters and I’m heartbroken that it’s over. I want to live in Jamison Valley and find my own happily ever after, among my new friends. Devney Perry weaves these tales and it makes you feel like you are right there, experiencing all the highs and lows right along with all of these amazing characters.

I also can’t say enough good about these audios — all 5 of them. The narration is top notch and I’m now a forever fan of Aiden Snow. Superb narrating!!

Dirty talk ruined it

Storyline was good and I liked the twist but why ruin it with a dominating male who talks dirty? I'm not a feminist or a prude but do women really want to listen to stories where the female is so submissive and responds "breathlessly" to "whose cock do you want?, say it! Who owns this cock? and "I'm going to fuck you all night!" I mean seriously Devney you're a better author than that. Surely there's some middle ground between Mills n Boon and 50 shades of crap. At least my boyfriend and I had a laugh at those bits when I told him.
