Publisher's summary

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives.

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch - a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood - or else she might be next.

One of My Favorite Series

The only thing I didn't like about this book was that it ended. I realize a lot of people don't like Sydney as a character but I do like her. She's a lot like me - insecure, smart and practical. I really identify with that. And that a super-hot guy like Adrian loves her - well that gives me hope. ;) I love Sydney and Adrian as a couple. They listen to each other, work together well and have faith in one another. I am really curious to see how things continue in book four and absolutely cannot wait for it to come out.

Emily Shaffer does a great job as narrator in this book.

Great book

The narrator is one of my favorites! She does an amazing job with all the voices, which makes it easy to keep track of who's speaking. When I listen, it's almost like a move, I can visualize it so well. The story is well written and engaging. Usually I have to be doing something while I listen it I get bored, but with this story I can just lay on the couch and take it in. I love the characters and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

fun, easy read

This was a quick mystery/adventure, fun, and it made me laugh at loud at points. Definitely enjoyed it.

That being said, I am a bit worried. Mead just keeps adding more and more conflicts and more and more characters without following through on some of the earlier conflicts and characters she introduced but never resolved in the first two books in this series. This is shaping up to be a big mess. It really felt like a digression away from the main problem in the series that Mead set up in the first book. Characters that had been central in the other books, only appear briefly in this one, and I'm worried that this series is just flying out in too many directions at once to be manageable.

Great Continuation

This book was a great continuation of the story in the previous books. I love Adrian and Sydney's interactions. There was tons of action, as there were several different storylines going on, and there was also quite a bit of advancing of Sydney and Adrian's relationship. I liked the addition of new characters while not forgetting the old ones. The narrator did a good job and was consistent with the previous books she's narrated. I can't wait for the next book.

All Around Wonderful!

Where does The Indigo Spell rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 5-10

What other book might you compare The Indigo Spell to and why?

I compare this series to Vampire Academy which is in my top 3 book series period.

Which scene was your favorite?

Dream sequences between A & S.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I didn't want to stop listening to the book...I love that!

Any additional comments?

The narrator did a fabulous job! It's one of those books where I feel if I read it instead of listening to it, I'm not sure I would like it as much. I highly recommend this book series if you like fantasy or paranormal romance.
