Publisher's Summary

The champion must not waver.

The champion must not fear.

The gate of darkness closes.

Elisa is a fugitive.

Her enemies have stolen the man she loves, and they await her at the gate of darkness. Her country is on the brink of civil war, with her own soldiers ordered to kill her on sight.

Her Royal Majesty, Queen Lucero-Elisa née Riqueza de Vega, bearer of the Godstone, will lead her three loyal companions deep into the enemy's kingdom, a land of ice and snow and brutal magic, to rescue Hector and win back her throne. Her power grows with every step, and the shocking secrets she will uncover on this, her final journey, could change the course of history.

But that is not all. She has a larger destiny. She must become the champion the world has been waiting for.

Even of those who hate her most.

Good series, but not awesome

The narration was phenomenal! The story was good, but not gripping or really exciting. it did have some good plot twists though.

The End of a great Trilogy

This series is so very thorough in its descriptions. One book is more like 3 and yet such an engaging read. It has a decidedly Spiritual spin but it is truly a commentary on following any faith blindly. We should "always question." I enjoyed all three books.

Amazing!

I just loved this series so much. Great way to end it. I couldn't stop listening... action the whole time. I wish the series was longer!!

I really like this whole series

I am looking forward to hearing the next ones. I with that Audible would give the chapters their actual names if they exist. I love reading the chapter names with books. The narrator is great in whatever she does and the story is always engaging.

Awesome book-terrible quality audio

This book has an awesome end to the series. It was full of action and adventure; kept me guessing at every turn.

Terrible quality audio though for at least half the book.

The narrator is so important!

Jennifer is so expressive... so connected... so in the moment! Her interpretation of the story is sensitive & engaging. Unfortunately this male counterpart.... not so much . His interpretation of Hector lacked true emotion or understanding of the character. He kind of ruined the book for me... but I continued because of the great story line! I loved this book otherwise & would recommend it to every reader!

Great finale

This was a wonderful end to an exciting trilogy. I really liked the character development and the development of friendships and relationships over time. The only thing I didn't care for was Hector's POV, which wasn't in the first or second book. Some reviewers said the narrator for Hector did a poor job and I would disagree. I don't think he did a poor job but his POV was bland compared to Elisa's, maybe because much of his POV was done without interacting a lot with others. I also think that the narrator tended to read at a slower pace, so it did stand out next to Jennifer's faster paced reading. Still, I loved this book and thought Rae did an awesome job.

Enjoyed the story line.

What did you like best about this story?

It was fiction for sure, including some light romance, and the author encouraged me to dig deeper for information as Elisa had to do with Storm. Some people will just give you enough information leaving you blindsided because you didn't specify. You need to think critically before asking to assure the wording of your question gets the response you really need.

What aspect of Jennifer Ikeda and Luis Moreno ’s performance would you have changed?

Moreno has too strong of a slurred s. It drove me nuts listening to his chapters. I kept envisioning an overbite and it kept distracting me from the story and just ruined Hector for me.

Arrrgh!

I really have enjoyed this series I went through the first two books very quickly and was excited to hear how the third would end, until I got to Hectors part. They ruined it with the male narrator. He drones on and on in a very monotone voice with occasional emphasis on the end of the sentence... I can't finish listening to this I'm buying the book.

Painful to Endure

This series was long and BORING. I kept thinking it would get better but IT NEVER DID. Contained a lot of extraneous details that had no point. What was good? The narration.
