Publisher's summary

After her brush with death at Ian Crane’s compound, Talia Lyons feels like a prisoner, confined in her childhood home. Plagued with seizures - the result of an unidentified drug injected in her neck by Crane’s men - Talia must put her dream of becoming a Hunter on hold. So when Agency Director McDonough asks Talia to go undercover at the School for the Talented, to find the spy who set the trap for her in Nevada, Talia jumps at the opportunity.

Soon she learns that her newfound freedom comes with a price - working with Donavon on a daily basis. As if that isn’t awkward enough, her former teammate Erik also shows up at the school. But at least Talia has the unexpected company of her best friend, Penny, not only to assist her in uncovering the spy but also to deal with the complications that the guys create.

As Talia becomes more entrenched in her assignment, she quickly learns the lengths that the agency and Mac will go to in the name of war. With Crane’s influence spreading, Talia learns that there are few Operatives without ties to the Coalition. Forced to face hard truths and dangerous conclusions, Talia realizes that it is those closest to her who are hiding the biggest secrets. As the task of finding the traitor becomes more problematic, desperation and frustration rule Talia’s world. It becomes clear that Talia can’t do this alone. But who can she trust when everyone around her is lying?

So many twist and turns! I am LOVING this series!!! I need the next book ASAP!!!

I’m used to the narrator now and it doesn’t bother me as much how whiny she is. Lol!!

I couldn't stop listening!!

Sophie Davis does it again! This book was amazing to listen to on Audible. If I was reading the book, it would be an absolute page turner. Listening to the store was still a page turner in the way that you will NOT want to stop listening. It's romantic, of course the love triangle, adventurous, a mystery, and and an ending that will leave you shocked and wanting more! I can not wait to see what happens next!

This is the second book in the series. And it is epic. Talia is an agent that jumps at the chance to go undercover, but it is proving to be more of a challenge, then she pevious thought. This is a quite the intriguing listen there are lots of twists and turns in this epic page turner. That has fantastic world building. This series would make a great netflix addition. The Author and Narrator have done a fantastic job at bringing this read to fruition. I definitely recommend it.

This is a really good story that I enjoyed listening to and reading. While at times I really disliked the MC, I enjoyed the story and wanted to know more about what was going on. All in all I want to know more about what's going to happen in the next installment

I loved it! This story picks up where the last one left off and it does not disappoint! Talia continues her journey and there are some twists along the way. The ending has me wanting more! Can’t wait for the next one!
The narrator does a great job of drawing you into the story and portraying the characters.

Story was great, narrator not so much

I love this book!! The whole series is just amazing! The narrator however made it hard for me to listen to the audible version. She sounded like a major snob that was too good to talk to anyone. She portrayed a couple voices good and I liked how she talked different for each one but some were just hard to bare. I almost wish she had just read it in one good voice because the main narrator voice was so annoying. If you can handle the narrator voice it is worth listening to, if you can't then at least read the book as it is very good.

It's getting hot in here!

The complexity of the story really starts to come out in this second book. Some things you'll probably suspect but some, trust me, you won't guess! The world is a messed up place in this book and every time you think you've got a handle on who's who and what's what...yeah, you'll be turning around and around
I very much enjoyed this second book - I was given a copy for an honest review.

Engaging Story, Don't Love the Narrator

I was given this book by the author in exchange for a review, and it is the second book of the series. I have warmer feelings toward this one than I did the last one, although my primary complaint remains... I don't like the narrator.

The book takes off a few month after the first one ends, and we discover that Talia has been through a LOT since she was captured and shot trying to get revenge on the person she believes killed her family. In the midst of her struggles, she's lost her spot with the Hunters, but has been reassigned to gather intel about a possible spy in their organization.
This book was really dry in some ways, mostly because her efforts to gather information that could lead to a spy are not real exciting. This book doesn't have much action in it. What it does offer is the continued development of Talia and her relationships. It continues to be complicated for her, in short. Not to mention she is struggling hard with her health and being able to control her own body.

As much as she struggled to find herself in the last book, she's having an even harder time now. Because her identity was tied up with the Hunters and becoming and assassin, she's a little lost and frustrated now. She also tried desperately to sort out her feelings about the boys in her life. Then, she has to perform an interrogation that leaves her subject in a vegetative state. As you can imagine, she really struggles with that, and will continue to for a long time.

There are some interesting developments in this part of the series, and we're definitely headed toward some big changes, and major realizations for our heroine. The only problem, for me, is that it's developing very slowly. I appreciate the attention to detail in what is happening in her psyche, but I personally need more action.

I did listen to this one at 1.5x speed again because I really dislike the narration. My husband happen to come in while I was finishing it up last night and told me he thought she sounded like Kermit the Frog. I don't know that I agree with that, but the way she speaks is unusual. I will say that in this recording I felt less like she was shouting at me when she did the dialogue for the characters, and that was a definite improvement.

I'm not going to to do a spoiler edition of this one, because there is too much up in the air at the end of the book to really talk about the twist that happens. That's not really a spoiler because the twist is set up from the very beginning, but I feel like I still don't know enough to go on about it. I will probably continue this series via my Kindle, instead of Audible, because I do want to know what Talia is going to do once she wraps her head around who her real enemies are. To be continued!
