Publisher's summary

Vampire Academy meets X-Men in this completed new adult series! There’s only one rule in the world I come from. Keep our existence a secret. Period.

The day my sister broke that rule one too many times, I knew there would be consequences. I expected us to be sent to one of those schools for “troubled” kids - and maybe Daizlei Academy was, in a way. But really, it was far more complicated than that.

You see, I thought that world had forgotten me. Forgotten us. For years we were left alone, and one day...we weren’t.

It was only when I got there that I remembered the second rule: Trust no one.

Because in our world? They would kill me if they knew the truth of what I am.

Daizlei Academy is a school for Supernaturals.

And me? I’m so much more.

This is a New Adult Academy series with slow-burn romance and a strong, but flawed heroine. It is labeled new adult for stronger language and some mature situations. As the heroine ages and grows, so does the content of the stories.

I recommend looking through the reviews

Check out the 3 star and below reviews. They all say the issue with this series.
To summarize: terrible narration, bad story writing (ignoring clearly said things and saying that they only happened chapters later, poor development of characters), and no reason to listen. This is not an academy book (only part of first book) and the telling of the events is really terrible. I thought I would be able to at least get through it, but I returned it with 4 hours left because it was honestly that bad.

A mixed bag.

The first two stories were painful to listen to. The MC is extremely unpleasant. With such an unlikable character, i found it hard to care what happened to her. As the third story unfolds, you begin to understand more about the triplets destiny. While I wouldn't say it made the story. It gave her some redeeming qualities. I won't be revisiting this one.

Absolutely amazing complete box set

This was a very engrossing series. The family relationship, the magic, and Mystery. The characters show so much growth through the series and I love the development of the relationships as well. Once you start you are going to want to read till the end just so you know what happens. Academy, magic, a curse, fated mates

Trite

While the narrator did her best, it’s like listening to a 1000 page essay written by a high schooler using as many filler words as possible without imagination. This story could have been 2 books and it would have been far less painful.

good till it's not

there are very few things that make me drop a book instantly and a bad love interest is one of them. spoilers ahead.
my least favoite thing in a story is what I like to call boom your in love. when 2 characters that have no reason or right to be together all of a sudden have the hots for each other be it forced by the story (that is that case here) or when it blind sides the reader with nothing to look back and an go oh. here we got the density one and the Mc does not even like the person. then to make this work more they completely destroy a very likeable character and make you hate him.
further more the massive incosistany with the characters gave me wipe lash. I really tried. I loved the first book but the second book is hot trash and even if book 3 is the best peace of fiction ever written I would not go throw book 2 to read it.

I can’t even finish listening to this series.

Too many characters. Too much bouncing around.the voice reading it is fine. The story line drones on and on and on.
I love fantasy novels, but this was doing nothing for me. I dragged through book 3 chapter 25,but finally had to shut it off and delete it.

Great series. Amazing narration and writing

this series was a pleasure to listen to. The characters are flawed and have great depth but hugely endearing despite their sins. They are no angels but no delvils. The way the author gives you an insight into the characters minds allows me I really feel like I understand every small decision the characters make. plenty of exciting and emotional moments too and plenty of fast pased amazing action without sacrificing character dialogue and interaction. would deffo recommend

Daizlei Academy

A stunning unique novel by Kel Carpenter . Clever writing that draws you n, so you relate to every character . The tale progresses as the sisters supernatural powers grow . Narration grips you into the storyline and becomes more compelling . I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to read more of her novels

Awesome book with great character arcs

Loved this book series, have recommended for my like minded friends and family. Love the character arcs. Only sad point is I wanted it to end differently but the ending was still good.

I just don't get it...

There weren't many reviews on the series unless you look under the ebooks, and even then I just don't understand the positives.

I muscled through the first book, but I couldn't finish it giving up with 23 hours to go. Here's why:

1) The plot in book 1 was vague, so vague I still don't understand what the problem is. the author gives you nothing and I only went on to book 2 in hopes more is given to the reader.
2) the fmc's trauma was touched on but vague. her ocd one track minded obsession to protect her sisters is reiterated over and over, but never explained as to why. her prickly nature is so overdone I could not like her no matter how many attempts side characters try to humanize her. I love a strong female lead who tries her best to overcome obstacles and portray growth that really pulls readers in, but it just did not happen.
3) why introduce so many secondaries when almost none of them holds any sway, adds to, subtracts from, or moves the plot along... the entire story is seen through the fmc, but the others play little to no part or influence her that they are literally just names or placeholders because the fmc has to interact with someoneotherwise the entire book would've been inner monologue only (not sure if it wasn't already with novel quotations here and there). Either way, it didn't matter who the side chatacter in the scene is, they are all interchangeable as the fmc has 1 setting... ignore, evade, no one matters.
4) the victim role in book 2 which was the focus made me eyeroll so hard I gave up and deleted the book. the new plot made the fmc so incredibly unlikable I wish the bad guys would win and take her down.

A big DNF. I often encourage readers/listeners to make up your own mind, but don't.. save yourself the credit and look elsewhere. I am a curious person and have gone to read a book, if it's in my KU, if I couldn't finish the audio just so I know how it ends, but this book turned me off so hard, I won't bother unless someone tells me the fmc gets taken down and everyone else has their hea and even then I would simply skip to the epilogue if told from everyone else's perspective after the fmc is gone because I don't care how she got eliminated, only that she did.

Loved this series!

Okay. It has been a while since I have really enjoyed a whole box set. Normally after the first book the story seems to go on repeat, but in each book the MC grows a little more. There is no big info dumps at any point and the pace is great. I would really recommend you give this a go.

Actually Prrety Good

I generally don't write reviews, but given the low rating I wanted to give my own opinion. I have thoroughly enjoyed the book(s). While yes, the details are vague about the protagonist's past and trauma. But I think it adds to the plot. When you meet someone in real life they aren't going to just list off in perfect clarity their life's story and the same could be said about characters in books. I really like that there are hints of romance, but it's not the main focus and she isn't constantly going on and on about her love interests. The book also focuses on the character development the protagonist and how she is growing and changing as a person. I would really recommend giving this series a chance.
