Publisher's summary

Scientists attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed.

Dr. Everett Berning, a leading researcher into the causes of addiction in the brain, spent 10 years of his life dedicated to one thing: finding the cure. Recruited after a strange encounter with the enigmatic Dr. Roberta Flint, director of research on Code Name: Rememdium, Dr. Berning is sent to work in a secret lab as part of the research team.

When the moment the scientists waited on for years arrives, Dr. Flint and her team are ecstatic.

Unfortunately, not everyone in the world feels the same way.

Benito San Nicholas isn't ready to give up his lucrative business. When the news of a cure arrives on his doorstep from a crooked informant, Benito enlists the help of other drug lords from around the world to stop the cure from hitting the streets and destroying their livelihoods.

What happens next ends up uniting the globe - just not the way society ever intended or hoped.

Zombie story in disguise

The zombie genre is not my favorite, but going into this book I did not know that it would go that way...so on a less than biased review...it seemed like the intro was easy to follow and the character introductions were easily identifiable (largely due to excellent voice talent). The middle of the story was gory, as expected, but somewhat predictable. And finally, the ending...I may be missing something...but it seemed to foreshadow an idea for a scientific resolution to the story, but really, seemed to have no ending whatsoever.

❤️

My only complaint is it’s way to short. Great start to a series. I’m definitely going to follow this one. Well written with interesting characters I was hooked right away. Excellent narration as well.

Quickly Evolving Adventure

Tainted Cure started out like a medical thriller, then drug dealers were added, and suddenly there were zombies! A quickly evolving, fast paced adventure, Tainted Cure is the first installment of the Rememdium series. Rebecca Roberts gave a spirited narration.

Tainted Cure

I found this to be a good story. There was a lot of tension and gore, not usually things I like but I'm beginning to appreciate Zombie stories!lol Rebecca Roberts is an awesome narrator bringing all the voices to life. She's quite good at mens voices.
Deep underneath somewhere USA,there is a lab looking to cure addiction to drugs. It has been years but finally they find it!The world will be saved, unless of course something happens to sabotage all of that.

A cure for addiction, the walking dead

A good story with great narration. The twist was unexpected. A shorter story but good.

What a Twist!

It took me a little while to get into this, but boy am I glad I didn't give up on it. The plot really gets going a little ways into the book and then all Hell breaks loose. Loved it. Quite a surprise. I have never seen an outbreak go so fast as it did in this book. One right after the other and it didn't care what character you were. No one was safe.

Rebecca Roberts did a great job keeping you interested and rolled right along making you want more. I was surprised when it ended. I'd thought that I had just started it. Will be looking for the next one for sure.

Where it starts

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Most Apocalypse stories start with the survivors; whereas this book explains the origins of the outbreak.
Narrator Rebecca Roberts does a splendid job.

Excellent

Yes yes yes the zombie thing has been done a million time.... But guess what.... This ones a bit different.
My mother was an addict my entire life & she passed away last week. That is why I chose this book to listen to this week.
I was very impressed. I'm a prepper at heart but my pocketbook doesn't agree. With all of the deaths by cops this week & the shootings tonight in Dallas i feel I need to make it a bigger priority.
This book may seem far fetched & like a lot of science fiction but so did walking on the moon at one point in time! Hell we'll be seeing pics from Jupiter before long.
Ok so on to the review. I loved it! It made me think more about this crazy world. I love zombie books so when I get a new one I devour it. Lol Well I do when they are this good. Great narration too. I will definitely be recommending this series & getting book 2 ASAP.

A great premise and narration, story needed more

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Let me start this review by saying that although this genre of story is not one that I enjoy reading over others, the book is one that may be better suited for those that do. There are many stereotypes taken from other zombie books, but I had to laugh as people were being asked to go to their local high schools during the event; don't they know this is never a good idea.

Rebecca Roberts did an excellent job of narrating the story and voicing the many different characters. This helped me to stay engaged with the story.

I wanted so much for this book to take its original premise of a cure for addiction gone bad in a more technical or scientific direction while focusing less of the zombie side. Again, this could be that science fiction is the types of books I like reading most. Having a build up at the start of the book and than being hit with some strange potentially possible thing really excites me, yet in this story we got the expected zombies.

I wanted the author to not just take me for a ride quickly from beginning to end, the way she did, instead I was really looking for it to be more a journey where the surroundings were described in more detail. I would have liked so much more of involving the reasons and effort spent in finding a cure. The technology and painful failures first required. There was some of this, but much of it seemed flat by putting in just enough for the reader to have a limited understanding. Stronger character back story and relationship building would have also been welcomed. Maybe more interaction involvement. I want to really feel for the characters, which at times I struggled with.

I will say this book is for adults due to the heavy use of vulgar language and some very specific adult subject matter, however the overall gore factor was not as bad or descriptive as I would have expected it to be for this type of book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I thought the ending was overall done well even though I knew it was going to lead me right in to a second book in the series. I did not think the book left off with a big cliff hanger as some series books do. It even had some lighthearted aspects that may have been placed to relieve the reader some from previous tension.

Which scene was your favorite?

I found that the early part of the book describing the lab and work on the cure was the one I like the best. Talking about the lab work, mice, patient trials, etc.

Could you see Tainted Cure being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Being that there were so many other zombie type movies that had come before it, a move that places the zombie theme on a lower note and instead focuses more on the science and cure work may help it to be realized more on TV than a movie. I say this without having read the other books in the series.
