Publisher's summary

Twenty-year-old Kendele Byers is savagely killed and buried in a shallow grave. She had a violent past, a bizarre, kinky line of work, and the suspect list grows longer every day.

But when another woman is murdered, Detective Mitchell Lonnie realizes that there's something much more sinister afoot: a connection between the two murders. Both victims had received a clue hinting at their oncoming demise several minutes before they were attacked. There's a serial killer in Glenmore Park. Even worse, he seems to be accelerating his murder pace.

Now Mitchell and his partner need to locate the killer before more innocent women die. But when his sister gets involved, Mitchell's focus begins to unravel. Soon his pursuit becomes personal, and the stakes rise very high.

Outstanding police procedural!

Another excellent novel I listened to because of a review by Audible Listener Shelley! Spider's Web is a wonderful action and suspense novel with vivid and interesting characters including a brother (an experienced detective) and his younger sister (just graduated from the police academy). The story is about efforts to solve a serial murder mystery when the young female cop is a potential victim. The novel is the first book in a three novel and one novella series.

This is the first novel I have listened to narrated by Eric Martin. He is a very, very good narrator.

Whaaatttt?

Seriously good writing!! This book is suspenseful and that ending...epic. If listening to this book, I suggest turning your speed down. I typically listen at 1.75 speed but had to slow it to 1.25 so it made sense. Sometimes the transition between speakers is quick and can be easy to miss if it’s to fast.

Another serial killer

Normally I avoid books which involve serial killers because they tend to be pointless and boring. Why does the villain do what he does? No real reason. Give him a rotten childhood and there you go. He can skewer his victims with crochet hooks or boil them in oatmeal and you don’t need a real motivation or plot to explain it. He’s crazy, right?

When I bought this book I didn’t realize it was a serial killer book but I really enjoyed the first two thirds of it. The plot zipped along and, despite the fact that the characters were utterly indistinguishable (I had to keep reminding myself, Jake is the old one, Mitch is the young one), the book was very entertaining. i was relieved that the murder scenes were understated, and the author resisted writing sadistic fantasies.

At approximately the two third mark we fell into cliche poison ivy. Relationships fell apart (neither the character nor the reader knew why), there was the obligatory sex scene (ditto) and lastly, we had the requisite damsel in distress exciting climax. At that point I just felt like I had read, heard, or watched this same story many times before.

I gave it three stars because I finished the book and will probably get the author’s next audiobook from the library, unless it’s another silly serial killer,

The narrator, Eric Martin, was great, and I will look for him again.

Loved the story itself

The overall story was great. I've enjoyed all this authors' books so far.
The narrator however...it was like having the agent from Matrix read you a story. His voice was so often completely without inflection that it became monotone.

Excellent! Well Worth a Credit.

This was my 1st experience with this author and this narrator. I thought both were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the narration.

The characters are like able, the offender is developed, but not overdone. The story is more linear than multis all merging at the end.

Scary

What a scary book. I would hate too think this kind of serial killer was after me. He was such a sick man. Had everything worked out so each victim had much of a chance making it alive.
Book was excellent and narrator was excellent. Kept me on the edge of my chair.
