Publisher's summary

Six months since the zombie plague struck, former librarian Roslyn Stewart has been holed up in a school with eight other survivors. But now the shelves in the school canteen are bare. The stranger at the gate has supplies that will ensure the group's ongoing survival but at a cost. He wants a woman.

Nick is a man with a plan. He'll treat Roslyn like a queen, devoting the rest of his life to protecting and providing for her. In exchange, of course, for sexual favors. It's the deal of the century given the state of the world. But Roslyn doesn't see it that way. The first chance she gets, she attacks the ex-army man and attempts to escape, forcing Nick to contain her. And so begins his awkward courtship of the woman, with her chained to the bed for security reasons.

Chained like a dog and forced to spend her every waking moment with a creep, albeit a good-looking one, Ros is determined to escape. When circumstances force them to band together against a common enemy, their very survival depends on their ability to learn to trust each other. An uneasy partnership develops, but can a relationship with such a difficult beginning ever have a future? The hotly anticipated sequel to Flesh, Skin is set in the same universe with a different set of characters.

4.5 ⭐️ Very well done erotica

I loved “Flesh” more than this one, but “Skin” was still a very entertaining, sexy listen.

This had all my favorite romance elements:
top-notch male and female narrator performances; solid narrative and tonal balance; great chemistry between the lead characters; hot sex scenes; a plucky yet charmingly naive FMC; a dominant yet sympathetic MMC; mild BDSM; and some thrills, angst, and stakes.

I also appreciated that the heroine not only stated that she hated and feared the MMC at first, but also behaved that way. The author did not write this as mutual insta-lust, a captivity-romance trope that I despise. This love story is a medium burn, which makes sense given the circumstances. For me, it made their HEA more satisfying and earned.

But one part did really bother me …

***SPOILER ALERT BELOW***

I was disappointed with Rosalyn’s impulsive escape attempt after she and Nick had sex the first time. No one with minimal common sense would attempt something so suicidal. Ros was well aware of the imminent threat of the zombies right outside, had nowhere to go, little to no survival skills, had only a small knife, and left without shoes.

I get that the author’s intent with this plot turn was to ramp up suspense and transition the setting back to the survivors community from the first book. And Ros’s motivation to leave—Nick failing to treat her as an equal with agency, especially by chaining her—was important to show she had a modicum of self respect. But she also no longer feared Nick, who went out of his way to provide safety and comfort, so she wasn’t desperate enough to do something so stupid. There are ways her fleeing could have been written that would have avoided making her heroine suddenly look like an immature dolt. That part felt rushed and lacking creativity.

***END OF SPOILER***

Despite this flaw, “Skin” was still very much worth the credit.

Loving it!

I am loving this series! It's a typical erotica book with a zombie apocalypse twist that puts it in a whole new level for me. This author is amazing because this book is 75% just the two main characters and still keeps you sucked in the entire time which is so hard to do IMHO. I didn't realize this book was about different characters from book 1 but fell in love with these two after minutes of their banter! Again these narrator did a good job! I really wish there were more books in his series! I looked it up on the authors web page and see there will be a book 3....someday. I'll be impatiently waiting!

If you like The Walking Dead and you read erotica....this is the series for you!

I WAS ACTUALLY SCARED! BUT NICK'S HOT, A REAL MAN

Any additional comments?

This listen was awesome! Whew!

What was Roz's problem? I'd have chained her, too. She had NO clue what kind of world was out there. At one point, I was freaking out.... my heart actually started racing.

And NICK. No words. He knew what he wanted. He knew how to get her. He gave her everything in a world that had nothing.

Waving up TWO THUMBS HIGH!

Good story, but I liked the "FLESH" the best.

The male character was great, but the female character protest too much. The storyline was good, but I being a person who does not like the Walking Dead, it had way too many zombie encounters, close calls and such. The narrators were fantastic, I believe it's what carried this book. Still can't wait for the next in this series.

Should have picked up on this before but...

This is written in UK english. And that's just fine. The problem is that both narrators, despite being excellent in their performance, do not try to mimic the dialect, and are not naturalized. So hearing "bloody hell" or "knickers" or "wanker" in American english is jarring and falls flat. This should have been read by someone with the dialect that the book was written in, imo.

Story was perfectly NOT about the threesome from before, I enjoyed that both were older adults, and Ros' stubborness was enjoyable, if boardering on annoying at times, but believable for a strong willed character battling against encroaching Stockholm Syndromn. But it was just okay-- could use more less back and forth between the two.

Zombie Aplocolipse + Eroctica = Perfection

I really enjoyed this book! If you like the Walking Dead and erotica, you'll love this book. Ali, Daniel & Finn are trying to survive during the zombie apocalypse and they find each other. The action is high, the sex is Hot and the narration is fabulous! This series is a new twist in erotica that makes this a whole genre of it's own. I can't wait to start book 2!

Not too bad

The story was pretty good. I loved the male lead. I did hope the female character would use die and another female lead would jump in with more common sense. To be honest I skipped some of the female's part, she started to become annoying, I would loved to be locked up with Nick. But all in all the story was ok.
