Publisher's Summary

Betty Dawsey knows that breaking things off with Thom Lange is for the best. He’s nice, but boring, and their relationship has lost its spark. But steady and predictable Thom, suddenly doesn’t seem so steady and predictable when their condo explodes and she’s kidnapped by a couple of crazies claiming that Thom isn’t who he says he is.

Thom is having a hellish week. Not only is he hunting a double agent, but his fiancé dumped him, and thanks to his undercover life, she’s been kidnapped.

Turns out Thom is Operative Thom and he’s got more than a few secrets to share with Betty if he’s going to keep her alive. With both their lives on the line, their lackluster connection is suddenly replaced by an intense one. But in his line of work, feelings aren’t wanted or desired. Because feelings can be a lethal distraction.

Another hit for Kylie Scott

I love Kylie's style of writing. She has strong female leads and sexy male leads. All her books have humor and just the right amount of snark. And Lies is no exception.

Kylie branched out into a new storyline with Lies but did it with her usual humorous way. Thom and Betty played off each other well.

Andi Arndt did her usual great job narrating.

Well worth the credit.

I have no idea how to rate this

I have no idea how to rate this. On the one hand, it kept my attention and made me laugh a few times. On the other, the premise was so ridiculous and such a poorly done spy novel that I had to roll my eyes. That and the love story was nonsensical...or maybe just really poorly fleshed out.

I wouldn’t recommend buying this or wasting a credit on it, but if you can remind yourself not to take it seriously in any way, have a few hours to listen while driving or whatever and have AE, go for it.

A solid suspenseful romance.

While I’ve read suspenseful romances, this is my first involving a spy storyline and I quite enjoyed it.

The ins and outs of trying to fool those you love and the realization of making the choice to love someone with this line of work.

Thom is the boring fiancé of Betty. In one instance, their basic life changes. His other life exposed. All the while still professing his love for Betty and their tepid relationship evolving into passionate love at any cost.

Andi is stellar in this. If you’re a fan of hers, this is an absolute treat.

Disappointed

This book is boring and the woman character is annoying SAD because I really like this author and mostly all her books. The whole whiny way in her character gets on your nerves after a while.

Fun and twisty!

Loved this Kylie Scott book, chalked full of fun, adventure and steaminess! Strong female heroine that was nuanced with good details.

A satisfying fun read.

This was a new author for me. I’ve read many authors in the romance genre so I have a broad basis for comparison. Based on this I will definitely be seeking out additional books by Kylie Scott to determine if her ability to create interesting female lead characters who clearly demonstrate intelligence through their dialogue and actions as opposed to the more common (and dissatisfy) technique used by many authors of simply stating how intelligent the character is and then having them speak and act like helpless self doubting idiots. So if you are tired of romance novels populated with female leads who are constantly putting themselves down, angsting over relationships and male leads who while described as intelligent act like idiots then you’ll enjoy this book!

The was fun!

This was something different for Scott. I enjoyed it. It had more excitement than your regular romance which is a nice change.
