Publisher's summary
Someone came between Lee and Leslie Strobel, threatening to shipwreck their marriage. No, it wasn't an old flame. It was Jesus Christ.
Leslie's decision to become a follower of Jesus brought heated opposition from her skeptical husband. They began to experience conflict over a variety of issues, from finances to child-rearing. But over time, Leslie learned how to survive a spiritual mismatch. Today, they're both Christians - and they want you to know that there is hope if you're a Christian married to a nonbeliever.
In their intensely personal and practical book, they reveal:
- Surprising insights into the thinking of non-Christian spouses
- A dozen steps toward making the most of your mismatched marriage
- Eight principles for reaching out to your partner with the gospel
- Advice for raising your children in a spiritually mismatched home
- How to pray for your spouse - plus a 30-day guide to get you started
- What to do if you're both Christians, but one lags behind spiritually
- Advice for single Christians to avoid the pain of a mismatch

"Over the last four decades, I've met one-on-one with thousands of men. Most of them know that Jesus promised "a rich and satisfying life" (John 10:10), but too many are confused about what that looks like. In fact, I'd estimate that 90 percent of Christian men lead lukewarm, stagnant, defeated lives—and they hate it. When men try to put into words what's holding them back, they invariably describe one or more of seven symptoms. But you can experience a powerful life transformed by Christ. I'll tell you how." Experience the blessings of an imperfect marriage. We all - at one time or another - have opportunities to act right when our spouses act wrong. There are no perfect marriages or perfect spouses. We know that having a good marriage requires effort and hard work. Yet we often don't know how to continue to love when we are angry, hurt, scared, or just plain irritated. Nor are we sure what that kind of love is supposed to look like.

very encouraging and useful!
I really appreciated how Lee and Leslie took such a Christ-like stance on loving your non-christian spouse. This is not a spouse conversion strategy book, but rather it was practical and encouraging collection of stories and advice for Christians going through a spiritual mismatch. It was such a blessing for me and probably many others going through the same thing!

Must read for living in a spiritual mismatch
This book gave me so much hope and insight. I also had convictions on my own behavior. I put into practice a lot of what is said and already I have seen some change in how my husband is toward me. That is only God!! My husband is not ready to give his life to Christ just yet but small victories daily is all I need for me to keep fighting. Thank you Lee and Leslie Strobel for writing a much needed book!

Very inspiring
Great testimony from the author and great to hear what his wife dealt with before he was converted. Useful tidbit from the book; even if your spouse never becomes a Christian you are to love them like no other and Gods plan will prevail for your life either way. Embrace what comes and be the best example of Christ on earth that you can. Amen!

A spiritual mismatch marriage is actually a blessing to the believer. God is faithful and He listens to our prayers. The time will come, according to His will and wisdom. In the time between, is His training for love and patience for the believer.
