Publisher's Summary

Today's parents are all but completely disconnected from the commonsense parenting wisdom of their parents and grandparents. The self-esteem parenting revolution has erased the practical insights gathered by generations of parents about the best way to raise kids. In this book, family psychologist John Rosemond seeks to recover this wisdom by resurrecting what parents of yesteryear tended to say.

Maxims such as "because I said so", "children should be seen, not heard", and "you're acting too big for your britches" are more than cute sayings for John. They are parenting principles, springing from a biblical view of the world. John makes the case that these principles from the good old days are just as valid today and will help parents to pass on values to their kids so that they can succeed at life. Grandma was right after all!

He is right, actually Grandma was right.

I'm old enough to have benefited from Grandma's parenting style, and sad for today's youth.

For parents who have problems with their kids

This is for the parents who are looking for a how to be a parent book. Really good solutions before they turn their kids into little prince and princesses. But many parents who don't read wouldn't pick this up anyway.

Great but kind of misleading

What did you love best about Grandma Was Right After All!?

Great overview of the common sense practical approach to parenting. Encourages you to really think about your kids needs rather than relying on the experts to tell you. It also gives you the needed encouragement that you can be a confident leader for your child without a PHD in child psychology.

Any additional comments?

I do have a problem with this book. You get the sense that he is recommending cold parenting and draconian punishments. Yet from the rest of his books and you tube videos, he is not this way. I find him be reactionary against the Dr. Spock types gone wild. So I really believe that you should read making the terrible 2s terrific and the well behaved child first. You 'd think that he enthusiastically endorses spanking and such, however he doesn't...his postion is that it may have its place in rare occasions. When I think of Grandma style I thinking belt.

Surprisingly good,

The essence of this book is a great deal of societal wisdom that has been discarded. A surprisingly good listen.

Life changing.. Do not hesitate listen to this now!

This had a immediate effect on me.
Wonderfully read with emotion and engaging from the start.
GEMS OF WISDOM all over start to finish!
In two days I have slammed down the breaks on so many tiny nagging things that made parenting so difficult! As the book says i 'lowered the boom' on all my kids and things are taking a U turn very very quickly.
Peace is on the horizon and I cannot thank the author enough for sharing this golden knowledge! I cringed as I realized I related to all the normal awful parenting mistakes and lightbulbs where just firing off so much I had to sit many times gasping and laughing and realizing so much crap about modern day parenting and the reality of how parenting has changed.
Spectacular... 100 times Thank You and thank you again and again.
So strangely I tried after to listen to a modern parenting book and it just sounded like psychobabble idiocy!
This book trumps ALL parenting books!!!
Do not doubt buy this book you will not regret it.
