Publisher's summary

She wants her freedom and all I want is her....

Nicole DeLuca, she’s the daughter of the biggest crime boss on the west coast. Did I mention that her father, Gino DeLuca, is my enemy?

I slept with Nikki and I can’t for the life of me forget about her. I’ve been keeping tabs on her, making sure no other men come anywhere near her.

I’ll chase them away like the beast that I am to protect her.

Like a caged bird, she’s desperate for freedom. Nikki sneaks out, only to get snatched and sold as a bride.

Even in the darkest room, the dirtiest corner of the world, I recognize her. She’s my little kitten.

I buy her. Own her. Save her.

Except she doesn’t see it that way....

She wants her freedom and all I want is her and that baby.

This dark mafia romance is the first in the Mafia Marriages series and can be listened to as a stand-alone and ends with a happily ever after. It also features cameo appearances from the Eagle Tactical series.

Loved the story.

I love a good mafia romance, and Secret Vow: A Dark Mafia Arranged Marriage by Willow Fox checked all the boxes for me. Dante and Nicole’s love story was captivating. Dante was everything you’d expect from a mafia boss—a domineering take-charge alpha male.

Nicole is a rebellious young woman. She doesn’t want to marry a man her father chose, so she does something stupid: she does the dirty in the bar with Dante, then steals his truck. But she doesn’t know Dante is her father’s rival. It’s an excellent opening to the book. Even though Nicole’s father is a mafia boss, she believes him to be a good man who wouldn’t hurt her. Well, without giving away the twist, I will say her father is an evil monster.

The timeline of when Nicole became pregnant and took the pregnancy test has no bearing on the story for me. I don’t know what brand of test she took. But, the bottom line is she’s pregnant, and Dante stepped up to become her hero.

The character development, settings, and plot are excellently crafted. The romantic scenes are sizzling. Five stars.

Now on to the narration. It did take me four or five chapters to get used to Baylee Day’s voice. She is easy to listen to. However, she had a slow, methodical cadence, so I sped her narration up to 1.3X, which was better. Ms. Day doesn’t change or add much inflection to her voice, so all the characters sound the same. Therefore, Ms. Day gets three stars for her performance.

I would recommend this audiobook because I loved the story.

Save your money

The story was decent. Though the female lead was infuriating, the narration made it impossible to finish. Save your money on the audio.

A Different Narrator Would Make It Better

This is such an amazing book, but I really had a hard time listening to the narrator voice the characters. I do not like to be so negative when I’m reviewing because I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings, but she was monotone throughout the book and I lost interest in the story. I really believe Willow needs to find two narrators, one for the male voice and one for the female voice. I see that her next books have the same narrator, so I probably won’t purchase The audiobooks, but I will recommend the books 100%.

Enemies to lovers

Nikki is tired of feeling like a bird in a cage. She meets her father’s rival in a club, she does not know who he is, and she has sex with him, then steals his truck to drive home. She packs a small bag, and is about to leave when she gets snatched off the street, by her father’s men but she thinks it is his rival, Dante Ricci.

Dante knows her father is about to sell her, no woman deserves that. He buys Nikki from her father, as a bride to be. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child there is no way he will let her go.

She thinks he is the monster, but he is just not the one she thinks he is.

Suspenseful

I loved this suspenseful story. Nicole had so many terrible things happen to her and she had no idea who to trust. All Dante wanted to do was keep her safe and protect her. I loved all the danger, suspense, surprises and passion throughout. I really enjoy this narrator, she brings this story to life.

Save your money on the audio.

this narrator is one of the worst I've heard. No emotion and constantly pauses and I would say save your money and only read the book. I don't understand how authors don't realize how important it is to get someone good to read their story. So disappointing!!!

Meh.

Story was just meh, kind of boring honestly. Repetitive and unbelievable. Narrator nothing to get excited about either. Definitely won’t be continuing with this series.
