Publisher's Summary

Biocentrism shocked the world with a radical rethinking of the nature of reality.

But that was just the beginning. In Beyond Biocentrism, acclaimed biologist Robert Lanza, one of TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People in 2014", and leading astronomer Bob Berman take the listener on an intellectual thrill ride as they reexamine everything we thought we knew about life, death, the universe, and the nature of reality itself.

The first step is acknowledging that our existing model of reality is looking increasingly creaky in the face of recent scientific discoveries. Science tells us with some precision that the universe is 26.8 percent dark matter, 68.3 percent dark energy, and only 4.9 percent ordinary matter but must confess that it doesn't really know what dark matter is and knows even less about dark energy. Science is increasingly pointing toward an infinite universe but has no ability to explain what that really means. Concepts such as time, space, and even causality are increasingly being demonstrated as meaningless.

All of science is based on information passing through our consciousness, but science hasn't the foggiest idea what consciousness is, and it can't explain the linkage between subatomic states and observation by conscious observers. Science describes life as a random occurrence in a dead universe but has no real understanding of how life began or why the universe appears to be exquisitely designed for the emergence of life.

The biocentrism theory isn't a rejection of science. Quite the opposite. Biocentrism challenges us to fully accept the implications of the latest scientific findings in fields ranging from plant biology and cosmology to quantum entanglement and consciousness.

By listening to what the science is telling us, it becomes increasingly clear that life and consciousness are fundamental to any true understanding of the universe. This forces a fundamental rethinking of everything we thought we knew about life, death, and our place in the universe.

An incredible synthesis

Would you listen to Beyond Biocentrism again? Why?

Yes I have listened already 2 times and the book was JUST released.
In fact I had just mentioned on a forum for Deepak Chopra's new book
"You ar the Universe" that I was hoping that there would be a new book/audiobook from Robert Lanza the author, and then th next day this arrived!!

What a powerful synchronicity!
This book is quite similar to Dr Chopra's new book
You are The Universe in fact.

What other book might you compare Beyond Biocentrism to and why?

Deepak Chopra's
You are the Universe

Any additional comments?

So excited that Dr lanza decided to continue in the popular media

Mindblowing change of perspective!

It is such a pleasure to hear an important scientist talking about interbeing in such a mindblowing presentation. I have so many questions for Dr Lanza.

Curious

This is NOT a review of this book though I have read and own the earlier version of Biocentrism. Considering this purchase I read the reviews which includes a couple of slams so I reviewed Dr. Lanza's record of publications and what is an amazing array of achievements, practical achievements of the highest possible order.
That a couple of humps on Audible take Dr. Lanza to be some sort of fraud is absolutely astonishing. In all honesty are real people this stupid or are they simply vicious or compensated.
Naturally, after re examining Dr. Lanza's CV and looking through the earlier edition I purchased the Kindle and Audible versions.
Always be somewhat decent and consider that after reading what might be called very deep material that the difficulty is that YOU do not understand, not immediately and perhaps never but there is no shame in this.
The shame lies in reacting in such a truly despicable fashion.

Crucial reading for those who think this is it.

Definetly heady but taken in bites is understandable..now on to explore navigating the higher realms.

A Huge "Thumbs Up"!!!!

Mortality, Science vs. Religion, cutting edge synthesis of the latest scientific research and progress in the study of consciousness. Provides science-backed information that to me at least make sense if it all. Even an attempt at a Theory of Everything, or Unified Theory in this read.

Not a science book

This is not a science book. I stopped reading this when the author mentioned conscious thoughts altering states in quantum mechanics. It takes 1h to read a paper on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and understand what the principle entitles.

I find it reprehensible when authors manipulate scientific theories to extrapolate into the realm of mysticism. Even disgusting because they know they're doing it.

Robert Lanza's YouTube videos are better. He doesn't spew evolution there.

Life changing...

Would you listen to Beyond Biocentrism again? Why?

Will definitely listen to this again... So much information to take in.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond Biocentrism?

Too many to mention...

What does Peter Ganim bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

A good clear voice. He seemed to enjoy the book himself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Too many to mention...

Any additional comments?

Very little grounding in physics needed to get yourself into this. Just let the ideas wash over you the first time and then listen to the book again more attentively.

This is a very important piece of work and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Thinly disguised woo-woo

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This account lacks any depth of argument and contains instead a sneering (and often wilfully misconstrued) account of standard physics. The authors seem dumbstruck by the fact that our internal reality of the world is constructed in the brain through neuronal interconnetions and massive filtering of non-useful information. They strangely draw the conclusion that this all of reality. I looked for any (persuasive) development of this argument but gave up. My only disappointing audiobook purchase to date.

What will your next listen be?

I don't know but can I strongly recommend Marcus de Sautoy's 'What we cannot know' which satisfying and intriguely addresses the issues of the relationship between external reality and human awareness and the limits of our knowledge. Also - for the relationship between quantum physics and consciousness - Al-Khalili and McFadden's 'Life on the edge'.

Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Ganim’s performances?

no

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Beyond Biocentrism?

One of the authors gave an embarrassing personal account of being 'connected to everything'

Any additional comments?

no
