Publisher's Summary

The story of the first Illeniel wizard continues.

Tyrion's life among the She'Har had become quiet, but the sins of his youth have returned to haunt him. The Mordan wardens have discovered one of his children, and the other groves are racing to find and claim the rest of his illegitimate offspring. Unable to stand by and watch as his children are used as pawns against one another, Tyrion makes a hard choice, one that will set him against everyone and everything he cares for. Others' love made his children strong, but his hate will make them powerful.

dark, tragic, but very good.

the story is full of conflict start to finish and can be a serious jumble of feelings. one criticism would be that the dialog is rather abrupt leaving out much of the natural flow you see in thought and speech as though facts are being presented without the experience. good action with detailed imagery in a good way.

It's okay 😉

I like Manning's books. It never fails I always loose track of the time when I'm reading his books. 😀 This book was just a bit slow for my taste. Hopefully his next one speed up....lol Keep up the good work Michael....you print it and I'll roll it up and smoke it. 😈 hehe jk

Darkly Entertaining

I typically don’t read books about mages, but thought I would give this one a try. I am so glad that I did. I immediately became intrigued and found it delightfully dark. My heart went out to Daniel the main character. The circumstances surrounding his dive into darkness are heart wrenching. I definitely recommend this audiobook. Alex Wyndham executed the narration perfectly and I am on to Listen to the next in the series.

losing control.

Another really good book but just like the rest it's failed to confine the scope of its magic system. On to a fairy tale ending..

Another one!!

This book was an awesome read. This is my second time listening to these stories and they are just as good now if not better than the first time around. The narrator has absolutely out done himself with this series. He really brings the story to life for me.

Great book!

Loved it, listened at every opportunity! The conflicting anguished emotions of the main character was riveting and well developed,..can't wait to dive into the 3rd concluding book of the trilogy, and I'm sure that I will be sorry that it ends!

A disappointing sequel

This book fell into the classic trap of sequel disease. It felt as if the author, having given so much to the first book, struggled to maintain the same (high) quality. There were too many contrived situations, too much gratuitous language and scenes which lent nothing really to the story, and too much wilful blindness from a lead character we had been led to believe was so talented, highly intelligent and had been through so much. The contradiction was stark.

Whilst I enjoyed much of what was on offer, I felt this effort lacked the strength, depth and "natural flow" of the first book in the series.

who does not love a bad guy

What made the experience of listening to The Silent Tempest the most enjoyable?

i loved the idea that he falls into the anti hero charecter, you follow his path and think i could have done that, not thinking of the consequences

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silent Tempest?

the matter of fact moment when the main character is called a rapist and he has to face up to what he has done, and that what he thought was harmless fun was much darker

Which scene did you most enjoy?

i wish i could easily narrow it down to one

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when he wants to help his daughter, but all he can do to help her is make her harder and more vicious

Becoming one of my favourite authors

Any additional comments?

I love this series of books, and the narrator does a fantastic job. My own complaint is that these books just aren't long enough, I love them so much I just don't want them to end.
