Fantasy, but frustrating characters
Fantasy is interesting and there are some different ideas here (living in trees, flying on birds, hierarchical caste system), but I finished it just to finish it. I rarely looked forward to the next insight or the next reveal as many of the plot points felt predictable or lackluster. Not hating, just not my cup of tea.

Great book
Very entertaining will be moving forward with this series. The author is a very talented writer and is well on his way to being one of the greats. And the narrator is as always, masterful and his ability to bring the characters to life is fantastic.

Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this story. The relationship between the MC and his demon was very well written and fun. It had all the classic tropes of a fantasy novel but the world building was excellent and unique. I enjoyed that not every question was answered and leaves the story wide open for the next installment!
