Publisher's Summary

"I am Meredith Gentry, P.I., and Princess Merry, heir to the throne of Faerie. Now there are those among us who whisper I am more. And who can blame them? I've awakened the dazzling magic that's slumbered in them for thousands of years. But the thing is, I can't figure out why.

"My aunt, Queen of Air and Darkness, is no longer distracted by her sadistic hobbies. Her obsession has turned unwaveringly to me. The mission to get me pregnant and beat my cousin Prince Cel to the crown is taking longer than expected. Even though I spend each night with the Queen's Ravens, my immortal guards, no child has come of our decadent pleasures.

"But something else is happening. My magic courses through me uncontrollably. And as I lock my half-mortal body with their full-Sidhe-blooded ones, the power surges like never before.

"It all began with a chalice. I dreamed of it, and it appeared, cool and hard, beside me when I awoke. My guards know the ancient relic well - its disappearance ages ago stripped them of all of their vital powers. But it is here with us now. My touch resonates with its force, and they're consumed with it, their Sidhe essences lit up by it.

"But even as they cherish me for this unexpected gift, there are those who loathe me for it. Me, a mongrel, only half fey and part mortal. The Unseelie court has suffered for so long, and there are some who would not have it weakened further by an impure queen. My enemies grow in number every day. But they do not know what I am capable of. Nor, for that matter, do I."

"Hamilton's trademark mix of the personal and emotional along with the sexual will as usual delight her fans....yet another tour de force ending." (Publishers Weekly)

Narrator is inconsistent.

This narrator has done several books in this series, so far I have listened to 1, 2, and 3, and she has yet to be consistent in how she pronounces names. I know Ms. Merlington is a popular reader, but this is sad.

I could get over the queen's name, maeve's sidhe name, and the demifay queen's name being different becasue they aren't used much, but Doyle pronounced as "Dole" is very irritating. His name is used to often for that kind of mistake.

Performance creepy

Would you listen to Seduced by Moonlight again? Why?

No. The lady reading the book didn't manage the male voices very well, and when it came to sex scenes involving the smaller fae the voices she used were child-like and thus uber-creepy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Darkness. He is cool, calm and dangerous.

Would you be willing to try another one of Laural Merlington’s performances?

No, she has ruined all the Hamilton books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I love the book itself but could not make it through this performance.

The storyline progresses wonderfully in this book.
This review is feedback to the reader, who pronounces the character's names differently from the first two audio books (to the point of distraction and frustration for me) in this book. Why pronounce Andais as on'd'a-es, Doyle as dole (like the pineapple company)?

What didn’t you like about Laural Merlington’s performance?

Did the performer not listen to any of her previous performances before embarking on this one? How can the performer change the pronounciation of several of the character's names from one book to the next??? Not to mention the voice of several of the character's have changed. As a long time LKH fan and reader, I am disappointed. I was pleased with the first books in the series, but I am barely into this book and I'm having a very hard time continuing it. Strongly considering asking for my credit back.

Hamilton Proffers More of the Story

These books are engaging! Seduced by Moonlight does not disappoint. No spoilers here, but let me say that if you are already seduced, you will continue to desire more of the story of Meredith and her...hummm 'men'.

What is with the pronunciation?

This is the second Merry Gentry audiobook I purchased, and it has the same narrator as before. Why, oh why does she pronounce names differently in this book? Doyle, the Queen, Nicoven are all pronounced differently from one book to another and it drives me to distraction. Outside of that, the narrator does a good job with the oodles of voices she must play. The book as a whole is full of so many similes that towards the end of the book becomes a bit much, but of course I still want to know what happens next.

upset over pronunciation changes

Would you consider the audio edition of Seduced by Moonlight to be better than the print version?

Not really, I have not made it all the way through the book but the discrepancies between the two are many more than I have ran across in any of her other books. Number one the narrator is now pronouncing the names differently than she did in the first two audio books and it really throws you off. Number two the book reads four months the audio says three months., and there are quite a few more, that one just took my attention away from the story and caused me to read and listen to it over again. Perhaps it's just me but by the time i have invested two books into the series the names are set in my mind and having them switched on me in book three just sucks it makes me feel dizzy because I have to make sure I am thinking of the right character. The new pronunciation is very unsettling. Either the narrator should have made sure she was pronouncing the names correctly before recording the first book or should have just read the names as she was doing them. It is very unsettling because the story is great and to have to watch the words carefully and relearn names and people is just crappy.

What other book might you compare Seduced by Moonlight to and why?

Her other series with Anita Blake is a bit like it but I really like this better. Anita is kind of like a flop ho with no reason for screwing everything with legs, at least with this story line there is a purpose to screw everyone.

What three words best describe Laural Merlington’s performance?

I think it is hard for her to do so many masculine voices but she does fairly well with the main characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sidhe steps to the throne.

Stay consistant

I wish the narrator would be consistent on how they pronounced the character names from one book to the next. The way the names were pronounced in books 1 and 2 were consistent but that changed for this book. I had to put more effort into paying attention to which character was being talked about, since I had gotten used to how the names were pronounced in the first two books.

This is the same narrator from the 1st two right?

Would you consider the audio edition of Seduced by Moonlight to be better than the print version?

No, the narrator pronouncing the names differently from the first two was very distracting and really pulled you out of the story every time she did it, even her tone was less melodic then the first two.

What did you like best about this story?

The character progression was good.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

It almost sounded like a different narrator then the first two. She mispronounced alot of the names. her tone just seemed like she wasn't committed to this book. Overall she seemed to only be giving it about 60 percent.

Strange pronunciation

What made the experience of listening to Seduced by Moonlight the most enjoyable?

I am working my way thru the entire series, so I am getting more of the story.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laural Merlington?

Laural Merlington was fine for the first two books, but for some reason she has started to pronounce the names in a diffrent way, I was gooing to check the books to see if I misunderstood, the names of the characters.

Any additional comments?

I hope Ms. Merlington stays constant with the way she pronounces the names in the rest of the series.
