Publisher's Summary

It may be less than a month since the doors of New Order opened, but that doesn't mean Bo Blackman isn't busy. It's not just daft allegations about vampire dogs and complicated relationships that she has to deal with, however.

When a woman is brutally assaulted, barely escaping with her life, Bo ensures she forms an integral part of the investigation. The trouble is that she may end up being confronted with a darkness that she's simply not ready for....

Love this series!

Very easy listening and engaging whether u follow the plot or not. Characters starting to flesh out and become familiar. Why is it the perpetrators never get exactly what's coming to them? Don't know. Suspect it happens in real life also. Delightful to find a female character that is independent without sacrificing her compassion.

Missing Mack!

Where does High Stakes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

High stakes and Bo are a good change of pace for Helen, but I really, Really rave Mack's stories.

What did you like best about this story?

It moved pretty good. To really see the head Vampire heart get involved makes the story line better.

What about Saskia Maarleveld’s performance did you like?

Her performance is outstanding. She has paved certain groves in the story where you know when the character changes from one to another.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

at certain points it did.

Any additional comments?

I really Miss Mack

Great book. Loving the tension played out between Bo and Michael. Can't wait to pick up the next book in the series. A great read. Thanks Helen

the perfect duet

I love the voice of Saskia Maarleveld! Coupled with the brilliant stories from Helen Harper this pair are outstanding the paranormal romance mystery genre. The Blood Magic series is one of my favorite and while the characters in this series (Bo Blackman) echo the heroes of the other, it's the events in each book and the relationships within that gives this series legs to stand alone. Saskia brings the characters to life, the rollercoaster of emotion that Bo is experiencing as she struggles with her cases (going above and beyond the call of a PI) and get life. Looking forward to the moment it all comes together, because you bet I'll be listening to it again!
