Publisher's Summary

Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling series.

Mercy Thompson's life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman - the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack - has made her a stepmother to his daughter, Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy's life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more....

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can't reach Adam - or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They've all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam's disappearance may be related - and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

    "Two plots in one!"

Frost Burned is a another installment in the Mercy Thompson book series. In this novel (Mercy, still car mechanic; but nor married) having recuperated from the river monster in the last novel is ready for a new adventure. This adventure centers around a much more convoluted plot, actually two plots. I won't tell which of the groups it's focused on, except to say, that it is not Faye. In this work, Briggs starts to integrate Mercy into the pack and gives her unique powers. In the last several series, we see her evolving. Mercy is the underdog that you want to cheer for all the time.

Lorelei King does a fabulous job as always and I love her narration in the book as it is consistent and flawless. The is a must read for all of the series fans. It can be read stand-alone. If you do, I recommend going back to the beginning and catching up on all of the back-story. This was a enjoyable listen. On to the next.

    "😻"

So glad I had already bought this book. I've been rereading and listening to the series to catch up to where I left off. As always I love this series. This and the last books I only have on audio. I'm actually starting to feel a bit spoiled by doing it this way. I can listen to the story and seem to catch more listening to the book than reading. And I can play games on my phone. Only bad thing is I lose track of time.

I did have a difficult time with the narrator particularly of Adam. I think it probably would have been better read then listen to.

"What is up with her Stefan accent?"

The story is a Mercy Thompson story so it's obviously fantastic however the narrator has obviously never read any of these books because if she had she would know that Stefan (I pronounce it Stef on where she pronounces it Stef en) comes from Italy hundreds of years ago not Transylvania as you would assume by the way she tortures his lines. Anyway, it's gotten to a point where I can't even listen because it bugs me so bad. I gave it a zero in terms of narration and five for story (at least up to where I'm at).

    "Fantastic"

I love the relationship that Mercy and Adam have!! a lot of shows and books claim people feel stories get boring after a long awaited couple finally get together, but that is NOT SO in the Mercy Thompson series!! together they are awesome!! The closer they get the better the story is!!

    "Another great from Patricia Briggs"

This is a seamless continuation of the ongoining and endearing life story of Mercedes Thompson. Patricia Briggs does her homework regarding the cultural perspectives of her characters, presents very clear and coherent cultures and world views for her non-humans and delivers a consistent world of terror, joy, sorrow and love.
