Enjoyable Scifi, Marines in space.
I think there are a lot of interesting ideas and concepts. I enjoy this series, but it is not one that I wait all year for the next one like the destroyermen and lost fleet series'.
Also I find the commander's girlfriend very annoying. Obviously the author identifies with his hero so he gave him a beautiful 23 year old bimbo with a great body and limited brains, that loves sex, for his companion.
I could really do without that character.
Some of the other characters are really great characters. I love Jack and the general. Most of the others just are placeholders for the story with no depth.
The story is really the star of the books.with many twists and surprises. The technology is interesting and The books keep my interest, but I don't think I will re read the series when the next one comes out as I do with the In Death series or the destroyermen books.
Good, enjoyable, worth the credit but forgettable afterwards. not 5 stars

What made the experience of listening to Extinction the most enjoyable?
Solid plot, always on your seat, sense of wonder.
What other book might you compare Extinction to and why?
The Flood, another series about a realistic possibility.

Very exacting battle chapters.

Surprisingly good
I'm not a huge fan of military sci-fi, but this one has some pretty nice twists on the standard pattern. For the most part the characters are likeable and the plot is interesting.

one of the best series you will ever hear.
once you start listening you can't stop. . the story line is filled with constant action, humor, lots of suspense overall a well-rounded store

Strong Finish
I wasn't really drawn into this sequel at first, however, it does deliver a strong finish and manages to pull the listener in despite themselves. It is a solid sequel to the first Star Force book.
