Publisher's summary

The Silicoids are a growing threat from beyond the frontier. Launching waves of crystalline drones, they ravage colonies all along the border of the Empire. Earth has been forced to ally with her enemies against this mysterious alien menace.

Scouts have located a forward base of the freakish creatures, who plot to annihilate all meat-based lifeforms. Earth assembles a joint task force with legions of Rigellian bears, Mogwa battlecruisers, and Saurian troops. Together, they strike as one against Crystal World.

After annoying every superior in his chain of command, James McGill is the first to be deployed on the unexplored planet. His mission: to establish a beachhead on this strange, hostile ground. Surrounded and cut off, his troops fight to the bitter end against creatures made of earth, stone, and jewels.

Find out what happens next in Crystal World, the thrilling 20th book of the Undying Mercenaries series. With millions of copies sold, USA Today Bestselling author B.V. Larson is the king of modern military science fiction.

Another great entry

Another great entry in what has been an incredibly enjoyable science-fiction series. I look forward to seeing what adventures are still in the future.

The wait for 21 begins...

I usually prefer "harder" science fiction, with more technical details... Sorry,.. I'm an Electrical Engineer that grew up on Star Trek. I like as much realistic "Gadget Stuff Detail" and discussion about "stuff that is probably really coming (sooner or later)", as possible...

Larson deftly skips that sort of thing... but he does it through James, and you just don't expect McGill to know much about that sort of thing, so it works to keep the stories very engaging... It's also funny as hell.

The events in the stories aren't very deep, but the way the stories are crafted to reach the inevitable plot twists (without the twists seeming like: "and then a miracle happens") ARE pretty deep and well done.

McGill is starting to say "...but I didn't care" a little too often, but it doesn't take away from the story any, the phrase simply becomes noticeable after a while.

"WHY" I wait so anxiously for each new book, I can't say. All I can say is "I DO wait anxiously for each new book".

So... ummm.. where is 21? ;)

Enjoying theories but …

I’ve enjoyed this series and look forward to each new title, but I much prefer the plot running through the empire, earth politics and now world politics with Boutica, admiral Touriv, etc. The battles seem so tiresome and unnecessary. When this story started it seemed promising that this was going to be more interesting until the battle with crystal world was thrown in.

Expect McGill. Get McGill.

If you've listened this far you might feel there's something about these characters and the story telling that makes this series a comfort series.

Love this series.

The narrator/ actor is phenomenal! I feel like I am there living the scenes! Character voices are amazing. I still can't believe it is one man narrating. Thank you for this product. I enjoy it immensely!

I enjoy the story line.

I think it’s a great novel. I so enjoy listening to it while driving over the road. I wish the main character would grow and develop more. As he reaches higher rank and gains decades of experience you would hope he would not be the idiot teenager after decades and decades. Besides that I really enjoy the story and its expert reader. Thanks again for bringing me hours upon hours of enjoyment.

Crystal World wasn't my favorite book of the "World" series. However,.that's like saying I prefer one cut of Steak another.... Both are good, Quite a few laugh out loud moments.
