Publisher's Summary

He's homeless. He's on the run. And he wants revenge.

Marcus Battle has left behind his home.

Now he's on a seemingly impossible mission to find a missing child. But can he balance that responsibility with his deep, primal desire to exact revenge on the men who destroyed his solitary existence?

The world he discovers on his journey isn't the one he remembers before a pneumonic plague called The Scourge killed two-thirds of the world's population. It is lawless, depraved, and far deadlier than the disease which created it.

Battle made a promise to find that child. It's a promise he regrets more acutely with every step of the journey where he is as much the hunter as he is the hunted.

Battle is at it again!

Marcus Battle is back at it again. Picking up where Home left off, Battle is thrown into worse and worse situations as he is forced to face the ever-changing post-Scourge world.

The narration was done by Kevin Pierce, who also narrated the first book. I’ve mentioned every time that I listen to a book narrated by Pierce that he has the perfect “prepper” type voice, and I felt that way again. But, his voice is synonymous with Battle in my eyes. They are the same person.

I really enjoyed Home, the first book in this series. Once I realized that there was more to the story, I couldn’t wait to dive into Canyon. I was not disappointed. Canyon starts off right where Home left off and doesn’t take its foot off the gas the entire story.

Battle is thrown into unbelievable circumstances over and over again and it seems like he can almost get through anything. And as the reader, you are taken along for the ride, thrown into scarier and scarier situations along with Battle and his small group of new friends.

I really enjoyed Home, but Canyon’s jumping back and forth between present and the past to give a much better background on Battle makes this book even better.

I’m not one for spoilers, and I won’t spoil anything by hinting, but the ending of this book was crazy. I had some sneaking suspicions throughout, but I was glad to have them confirmed at the end.

I will be eagerly awaiting the third book in this series to figure out what happens to Battle, and how he will defend his home, his friends, and his newly acquired accomplices.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Keeps getting better!!

Non stop action. Keeps getting better. Love the mixture of prepper, war tactics, and personal relationships. Kevin Pierce again doing an amazing job. Cant wait for the next book. If they continue this way, this series will be as famous as A. American Survival series.

Another great story

Would you listen to Canyon again? Why?

No, even though I really enjoyed the book I rarely re-listen to books.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were believable and Kevin Pierce keeps me glued onto the earbuds.

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He just has a great narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did after the first one, well worth it!

Alexandra

This was an enjoyable story. Good action and an interesting protagonist. I'd like to see the other characters fleshed out a little more but that will hopefully happen in subsequent books. I would recommend it to like minded friends. My only complaint is that at 7 hours I felt it was too short for its cost

Had to call in sick to finish this book!

I love this series! The first book was so intriguing to me that I listened to it straight through a weekend. I was upset to find out that the next book wasn't available yet. 3 days later it's here. I called in sick and listened to the whole thing. It's worth the PTO!

I love the flash back to present story line. It really helps build the character that is Battle. I was pretty sure I knew the twist at the end, but it was still perfect! Cannot wait till the next one arrives!

Great innovation

Would you listen to Canyon again? Why?

Absolutely; he keeps the story interesting, eventful and flowing.

What other book might you compare Canyon to and why?

Hard to say, I listen to lots of these type novels and I always know it was exceptional when I eagerly look for the next volume in the series. This was one of those types.

What about Kevin Pierce’s performance did you like?

I think I would enjoy Kevin Pierce if he was reading the phone book. Just saying; I have done searches just for what he has narrated and only turned one back in. He has that old Disney type folksy voice that people enjoy listening to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really. Just liked the anticipation that he built into to story plot.

The post apocalyptic/dystopian series continues

This book will make no sense at all unless Home, the first novel in the series, is read first. The Traveler is a 3 novel series. The first two novels in the series end in cliffhanger situations.

This is an interesting series set mostly in 2037 after a 2032 disease epidemic kills over two-thirds of humans. The southwestern US is under control of a military-like criminal group called the Cartel. Expect lots of action and suspense. Most of the action occurs in Texas. The protagonist is is ex-US Army officer Marcus Battle who routinely does the seemingly very unlikely.

Marcus Battle is a "Bad Dude"!!

Kevin Pierce did his usual great job of narration and the story line is taught and different than many other survival books I have listened to!
Tom Abrahams is a very good story teller'

Thrilling surprise

Once the story started I couldn't put it down! Normally I only listen to books when going on long drives so it will sometimes take me months to complete a book however, I literally listened to this book 7 hours straight. At first I was irritated when it kept referring back to Syria. I would roll my eyes, kick my feet and flail my arms while screaming at my iPad "WHO CARES WHAT HAPPENED IN SYRIA!!!!" But towards the end the Syria insert was needed to explain his feverish need to protect his home annnnnddddd... GENERAL RUTH!!! Omg, who knew!?! My jaw is still hanging from this book.. love love loved it!
