Entertaining

I really enjoyed this story. The idea behind it was a fun twist on time travel. Not loving that it is a series. I was hoping for a conclusion at the end of the book.

Lots of Shooting, Death, Destruction, and Adventure 4.7

I liked the humorous, crazy romp of a plot. The writing is insightful as well as entertaining, better than the average young adult fiction. The cast of characters include meritorious nobles and horrifying villains.

I do not like the way the science fiction/ fantasy elements were revealed. Most of the book consists of a series of attempts to assassinate the main character. By the end of the book, we only partially know why and know even less about how. The story does not make as much sense as the audience needs, and readers / listeners like me find this disorienting. It makes the plot tedious at times for me, and at the end, the story still did not come to a conclusion. I guess this sells more books, but it also runs the risk of making the audience lose interest.

The things I like best about the story are the lessons about killing and dying and living with courage, all disguised in a clever fantasy. The writing is excellent, sometimes almost poetic. The narrator is also excellent. In all, it’s a very entertaining story.

I am not sure what is going on with Wilson’s books recently because some books in his Ashtown fantasy series are currently out of print. The final book in the series is not available in audio form. Some previously published books are not now available on Audible or Kindle. I am glad that I can still access the audio books I previously purchased at least. I do not know how long this will remain true. I am disappointed, and should I be unable to access my previously purchased audio book in the future, I will feel a ripped off.

More than that, the books are good enough to be children’s classics which unfortunately will not happen if the books are not in print, remain unfinished, are not made into an audio version (like the final book in this series), or stay ridiculously expensive (as the last book in his Ashtown series). I hope things get ironed out soon. Because all of his fantasy books are related, they are just not useable if even a few of the books remain so inaccessible. I have recommend these books to others, but that is almost impossible now because they may lose the use of their purchase and cannot purchase the even the print version of some books in the series.

My family and I loved this story, so we choose this audio book for a road trip. the performance was worthy of the story... well done!

Excellent story about a time traveling boy

Though it takes a bit getting used to the constant changes of when the story takes place, it is an exciting story about a gun slinging boy being hunted by an outlaw that wants his heart.

Amazing story!!!

The narrator did a terrific job with the timing, cadence, and different characters' voices! The story is unlike any that I have ever read or heard! I was gripped by the storyline and listened to the book every chance I got!

Great turn on a western

Kind of confusing if you’re not following along closely but this is my third time through and I still love it.
