Publisher's Summary

"My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental."

My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father's side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn't going to happen.

As an Ender, one of my father's Elite guards, it's my job to do as I'm told. When my older sister is sent as an ambassador to the realm of the water elementals - the Deep - I have no choice but to accompany her as her bodyguard.

With the death of the water elemental's King, a deadly battle for the throne begins; a battle we are forced to choose sides in.

There are only a few things I know for sure. The ocean may be beautiful, but lurking in its depths are monsters to fear, the water I tread is teaming with danger and I am on my own.

With no one to help, and no one to trust, I have to find a way to keep my sister safe, and stop a civil war.

But the secrets within the Deep are far darker than any of us realized.

Welcome... welcome to the Deep.

Great series starter but ....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No because there are no further audible versions of the remaining 5 books in the 7 book series!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Larkspur

Have you listened to any of Lauren Fortgang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love Lauren Fortgang's readings! I ordered all that I could find!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Loved the first two books in the series BUT not having the final 5 available on audible OR audiobook leaves me hanging and VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Book 2

Wow! What an action packed second book! Who do you trust....well Lark of course! This book has court intrigue, lots of battles, multiple princesses, corruption, and lots of drama. Maybe even a little beginning of a love story.

Larkspur goes on her first mission.

Larkspur and her oldest half sister, Beladonna, are sent on a mission by the king. Belladonna as an ambassador and Larkspur to protect her. They are in danger as soon as they enter the Deep. The realm is being controlled by a man who wants to be king of all the realms. Every diplomat that travels there is killed or put into a cell permanently. Luckily Ash has followed the women so he can help them. Lots of danger, suspicion, threats and near death accidents occur. Very well narrated.

Pure entertainment!

I have enjoyed all the books in this series, but this is my favorite by far. The characters are well developed with quirks and secrets, which I personally love.
This author has been a favorite of mine. I truly love her story telling. Can’t wait for the next one.

ok

the main female character needs some therapy. the first lover treated her less than dirt left her so easy when she was in trouble and went then got back with him for feeling guilty of maiming him knowing it's cause he wants a woman to control. then the next lover started out hating her and the moments she is attracted to him the most is either when she is in pain or in danger

A great read!

4.5 *s

I've come to the conclusion that Lark is a danger magnet. If trouble can happen, it will and she will be right in the middle of it. With that being said, I loved this story. It wasn't as intense as book 1, but it was a very good read.

Lark and Belladonna are sent to the deep on an ambassador visit/mission that turns into more that they bargained for. Instead of finding out who their father should back, they find themselves in deep water. Pun intended. When Ash shows up things really take a turn and the world as they both know it, goes up in bubbles.

It gives a whole new meaning to good bs bad. It was a wild ride and I really enjoyed meeting the new people of this story. I can't wait to see what comes next!

Great Series. Great Narration.

Where does Breakwater rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my favourites

What other book might you compare Breakwater to, and why?

The elemental Series is similar to the Dark in you series as in the unique worlds these authors have create run hidden within the modern world of today. The Character Larkspur is strong yet vulnerable like Malini Singhs, Ilona Andrews etc female leads.

What about Lauren Fortgang’s performance did you like?

Her voice is easy to listen to, she brings the characters to life. Great Narrator

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

So as not to give any spoilers I will just say moments in the book where the dynamic between different characters relationships develop.
