Publisher's Summary

An innovative audiobook production featuring more than 30 voices, Sadie explores the depth of a sister's love - poised to be the next story listeners won't be able to pause.

A missing girl on a journey of revenge and a Serial-like podcast following the clues she's left behind.

Sadie hasn't had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she's been raising her sister, Mattie, in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie's entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him.

When West McCray - a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America - overhears Sadie's story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie's journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it's too late.

Courtney Summers' Sadie is propulsive and harrowing and will keep listeners riveted until the last track.

Critic Reviews

"A haunting, gut-wrenching, and relentlessly compelling read. Sadie grabs you and won't let you go until you've borne witness." (Veronica Roth, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Carve the Mark and the Divergent series)

"An electrifying thriller, taut as a bowstring. A coming-of-age tale, both gritty and sensitive. A poignant drama of love and loss. This - all this - is Sadie: a novel for readers of any age, and a character as indelible as a scar. Flat-out dazzling." (A.J. Finn, number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Woman in the Window)

"Courtney Summers's powerful story of love, neglect, abuse, and revenge is narrated with irresistible urgency by Rebecca Soler and Dan Bittner, along with an ensemble of supporting narrators...this is a production that will not be forgotten." (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award Winner)

Brilliant, Courtney Summers, author to follow

Couldn't get Sadie out of my mind. I wept and stayed up all night to finish this book. If you get one audio book this year, it's this.

Exceptional Storytelling & A New Favorite

This was probably one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. Though I don't listen to much so the bar is set high for me now. The voice for Sadie did an excellent job with her stutter and capturing the emotion of suppressed teenage rage. This whole audiobook was phenomenal! I finished it in less time than I expected because I was both disturbed and compelled. The entire cast was believable and the story... the STORY was the best written story I've read in a long time. It has a nice blend of both thriller and mystery. Adult Thriller writers ought to take notes.

Definitely Read!

I was very impressed with Sadie. A few days before I picked up this audiobook I learnt how investigative podcasts worked, and I’m glad I did. This was one of the most original story’s I have read in terms of story telling. The full cast was fantastic. Brilliantly performed. It felt like it was real and not just a story.

Also Courtney Summers is a great author. I recommend any of her books. Her writing always finds a way to punch your guts, grab them, squeeze them hard then twist them just a bit. Also she doesn’t go soft on you thoughout the book, including for the conclusion.

Demands to be experienced in the audio format

I am a longtime fan of Courtney Summers for many reasons but mainly it’s her ability to write complicated, angry girls who are allowed to feel every bit of resentment and anger at the unfair circumstances in which they were placed. Basically, they’re real.
Sadie is such a girl, raised in a trailer by a mother who was addicted to drugs and abusive men before taking off to leave Sadie and her younger sister Maddie, who is Sadie’s world, to fend for themselves. When Maddie is murdered, Sadie channels her rage into carefully plotted revenge.
Interweaved with Sadie’s narrative is a fictional podcast reminiscent of NPR’s Serial, created with the purpose of finding a missing girl – Sadie. What makes this book so special for the audio audience is that the publisher recorded the podcast with a full cast of characters to give the listener an entirely immersive experience. Alternate podcast episodes with chapters from Sadie’s perspective and you get a perfectly plotted mystery unfolding in real time that demands to be experienced in the audiobook form. #Suspenseful #MultiplePOVs #SiblingStories #IssueFiction #tags

Amazingly Real

It feels so real like you could google Sadie’s name and follow her story and like this was an actual podcast talking about it. The audio is so well done. Highly recommend!

LOVED THIS!

The story was told in a way I’ve never experienced outside of actual podcasts and it was SO riveting!
I LOVED hearing it with a full cast. All audiobooks should follow suit.
Absolutely worth your time, it’s my favorite that I’ve heard in a really long time.

Great audiobook, story itself a bit lacking.

I found the audiobook incredibly done, the cast was fantastic, yet the story somehow fell flat for me.
