Publisher's Summary

They tell you there are plenty of fish in the sea, but nobody mentions the sharks. Plunge into this hot, hilarious audio-first romance by USA Today best-selling author Cara Lockwood!

Getting back into the dating scene is never easy, but imagine my surprise when I sign up for a dating app and get matched with my new business rival.

Rich, mysterious, and gorgeous, Peter is controlling my company's high-stakes merger. Everyone says he's a cutthroat corporate shark who takes no prisoners and guts companies with ruthless precision. But the more I get to know that man behind the expensive suit, the more I see hidden depths that no one else knows about.

Peter and I can't deny our attraction. But are his feelings real, or does he just want inside information about the merger? And when another boardroom power player makes his interest known, I start to wonder...am I falling for the wrong shark?

One thing is clear: In the world of dating, nothing is simple...but risking it all just might lead to the life of your dreams.

Mantuition. noun. It's raining men, Hallelujah!

This book is LOL funny and witty and relate-able. The plot reminded me of the movie “Bad Moms” wherein the heroine tries to make the best of life after divorce - ex stuff, teenage kids, sarcastic mom, and dating. It makes light of serious topics via witty dialogue and banter. Lori (h) is such a strong character in spite of her insecurities that i wished the book had been longer. One thing that I thought was unbelievable though was the “insta love” from Peter(H). But, I’m not complaining. I believe that the h totally deserved her H and HEA.

Amanda Ranconi’s delivery was spot on, enhancing my experience making my commute through bad traffic (due to accident) bearable. Really, I didn’t mind my almost 2 hour commute home on a Firday.

I’m raving about this book as a must read especially if you can listen to it for free through the Audible Romance package. Definitely, worth your time. If you are a reader who think mid-30 to 40 is too old, you may want to stay away. Otherwise, worth the credit. Happy listening!

Too short, but I loved it

It was a short listen, but I loved it. Amanda Ronconi as usual did a great job on narration. This is my first book by Cara Lockwood, and I’m interested in reading/listening to another one. The main character for me was a little indecisive at times. Which is a bit annoying, but as you listen and get to the end you can see why. It is a true romance audible listen, with all the good parts.

Poor Presentation of Story

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

This was an 'adult' story, but the presntation sounded as if a 15 year old high school student was telling the story. The narration did not match the story line. I found the narration so distracting, that I could not get past the first hour.

Great listen - a perfect escape!

Loved it - Funny, heartwarming, romantic. Just what the doctor ordered! Loved the family drama as well as it provided depth and a realistic feel. The writing was fun, swift, and meaningful...and the narration was excellent. Enjoy!

Very good performance, and more realistic heroine

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The characters had greater dimension than the usual romance novel characters, and the situations didn't seem as contrived. There were real world problems, that were solved in realistic ways. The dynamic of the main characters was reasonably believable.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Shark and I?

The thing that stuck in my mind, and "hooked" me was the main character being taught to use a dating app by her daughter. It wasn't near as cliched as those type scenarios often are in these kinds of books.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the scene where the main character (Lori) starts flirting with Peter on the dating app. Its really cute. The flirty texts are fun, and the setting makes it very interesting.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was compelling - but not to the point of life altering.

Any additional comments?

I loved the older characters. It was listed as "sizzling", but I really would put it much more in the "cute" category.

Fantastic!

Funny, heart warming all with the fantastic narration by Amanda Ronconi! It was laugh out loud at some points and I loved every minute! Just a little too short. Okay Cara, let’s keep em coming!! Ps thanks for creating a 40 year old professional woman with kids!!

Fun book!

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to listen to and the story was great.
A review I read for this before I got it said that the narrator made the main character sound like a teenager. I totally disagree. I guess it is a matter of preference, but everyone has a different voice and not all 40 year old women sound the same. Some still sound like teenagers. :)
Anyway, this book was great. Loved the story and the narration was fabulous!
