NOW A NETFLIX FILM! • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Funny Story comes a sparkling novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.

Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.

Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.

Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven't spoken since.

Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.

Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

It's a nice story, but it flips too much to the past then present found it hard to follow sometimes. There were some parts a actually fell asleep but even though I dosed off for 15 to 20 min I didn't miss anything they were still stuck in the same issue so there was no need to rewind.

It's a nice story

Meh. Main character seemed bratty and shallow, so I wasn't rooting for her and the story had no surprises. Decent listen but I wouldn't recommend.

didn't like main character

Loved this book. Julia Whelan always knocks it out of the park with narration so thats a given. The story here was unique and kept me interested and engaged the whole time, forever teasing the inevitable. The characters (namely Poppy) were PHENOMENAL and I wish I could be friends with, well, almost all of them -never have I wanted to spend time with a fictional person so much as I do Poppy. She would make an excellent travel companion!
This was the first book by Emily Henry I have read/listened to, but after devouring every witty word, I will definitely be going back to check out her other books!
THEME MATTERS!!!!

Witty, laugh out loud fun

The story felt like groundhogs day. The two main characters kept repeating the same "almost in love" story over and over. Not my cup of tea. I love the narrator but a female narrator trying to sound like a man is really annoying and ridiculous. Seriously hate that attempt at a male voice.

So so

It was a 2.5 for me honestly. The last 10 chapters were able to gain that other .5 for a 3 star review. I can do slow burn, and I can do normal and relatable MCs. I think the MCs wanted to be so relatable that they came off as dull and had no depth. The story was redundant, and there were times where it was easy to zone out. The end became predictable. My favorite character is “Buck” who is in maybe 2 scenes in the book. I wanted to love this, but in the end it left more to be desired.

The longest slow burn of my life.
