Publisher's Summary

What do you do when you can't control your feelings for someone? When you know you shouldn't go there? Not even in your head.

Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy - the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily must be dangerous. But she's already in too deep. And Jack isn't only dangerous. He is forbidden.

More like The Everyday.

I’m a huge JEM fan, but I think ever since she’s made it big, it doen’t matter what she writes. Annie meets Jack in a bar, there’s a few lines of banter, and then they have sex. But wait...he’s married. She finds out, he said it’s the first time. His wife is a bitch, and controlling. Isn’t that what they all say.

Well anyway, they continue their affair for months. And then I become too bored in the story and never finished. The narrator was bad, and I didn’t even recognize this as a JEM novel. I felt no chemistry in these two characters.

Disappointed

I couldn't wait for this book and then I was let down by the narrator's voice she sounded so childish and girly , I liked the premise of the story even if it was sooo predictable. There was even parts that reminded me of 'this man trilogy' (loved being on central cloud 9). But this was boring. I still love Jody Ellen so keep writing

What's the moral if this story?

Why does this author hate women? I couldn't finish the "This Man" series after the second book. This was hard to finish. Maybe I'm biased because I'm married but I disliked this one. I don't know why the author makes these women out to be so spineless and weak.

I enjoyed the first few chapters and even got excited when the story took an unexpected turn. Then the more I listened on I kept disliking the character the author initially built in my head. Annie, begins the story as a smart architect with a good head on her shoulders then asks for trouble with "the forbidden". Everything that happens to her in this book is her own doing. It was not romantic. Steamy scenes were good but I couldn't get on board. I disliked Jack the entire book and until the very end I thought he had his own hidden agenda.

The author continues to write about women being abused mentally. I have officially written her off. She needs to come out with a novel where the woman takes charge, is smart and doesn't let a man take control of her future or treat her like crap. Overall I was disappointed. The moral of the story being don't go for the guy bending you over at a bar or you'll suffer the consequences. I don't get what she was trying to convey but whatever it was, I don't want any part of it.

Mixed Emotions

What did you love best about The Forbidden?

The writing, Jodi Ellen Malpas did a great job as she always does.

What other book might you compare The Forbidden to and why?

Not sure...I can't really think of any.

What does Julie Garthan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a great job narrating the book. And did a great job with the voices of the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no as I had mixed emotions on the book.

Any additional comments?

This book deals with infidelity. You understand why as you go along with the book but still I battled my feelings on loving the hero and heroine.

Love the story, but..

Jodi Ellen always does a great job with her writing and characters. This particular storyline is realistic and I appreciate her tackling this "Forbidden" topic. The only reason I only give four stars is because of the following.
Why do all the heroines, at some point, lose control of bodily function and can't move their legs or speak. It's either they're so enamored with a man they've just met or because some dangerous or traumatic event. Please give your female characters a bit more gumption, or is that the way British women actually respond to unexpected, emergencies or dangerous events. Whatever happened to Fight or Flight,? Is that not a thing in Britain? Anyway, I do enjoy the books and the way they allow you to become apart of a different life.

Jodi Ellen Malpas does it again

The Forbidden is another winner of a book. The story between Annie Ryan and Jack Joseph is another beautiful love story written by JEM. I didn't want the story to end. A forbidden love that should never have been or should it? We can't help who we fall in love with and Annie and Jack's story is a prime example of this. A chance encounter in a bar leads to a leads to something both Jack and Annie never expected. This is an outstanding book that is brought to life by an exceptional narrator. I can't wait for JEM''s next release. It seems everything JEM writes turns to gold. I have read or listened to all her books and like the others, this one left me wanting more.

Good story, but the narration...

I really enjoyed the story and am happy she ventured into a subject that is sketchy with many. The only thing I disliked about the book was Julie Garthans narrating for Jack. She never put the empathy into his parts. She would say a part as him and it would be mono and add that it was him whispering. His character could have been more appealing if his parts were more put into context. Just my opinion.

Heart warming

Falling in love is suppose to be easy and fun, but when you fall in love with someone already taken that path is filled with all the heart ache and loss you didn't see coming.

Wow

So I can officially say I love everything Jodi Ellen Maples weights.
This is definitely a Taboo story and I loved it.
The forbidden is just so good you'll get mad and you'll feel sorry and then you'll get mad again you may even cry, I did. but when you finish this book you'll love it. I just wish we got and An epilog that would have made it a 5 star for me. still I loved this book and I did not think that was going to happen. so to recap this book is going to kick you ass and your going to love it. .
happy reading.

Who Knew!!!

3 Stars......I made a comment while reading this book earlier that I didn't know how the author was going to make me like Jack.

Okay, still not a fan of Jack. He is weak and full of it.....make a CHOICE.

My bull barometer was spiking off the charts. Apparently, I am "one of those" that can't read a book with cheating and weak men. Who knew!!
