Publisher's Summary

Jack "Preacher" Prior is at a crossroads - literally. Left for dead in the Badlands, he's managed to survive. He's stolen a truck, but where can he go? Body broken, mind reeling from betrayal by his own MC brothers, he knows he won't last a day back in Rapid City in his current condition.

Erin Walker is at a crossroads of her own. Dealt a bad hand by being the daughter of Buck Walker, ex-rodeo champ, she's made her own way in the world without his help. She owns Thunder Ridge Ranch outright, and she's carved out a piece of paradise for herself with her own two hands. She's not giving it up without a fight, but she's alone in the world, with no one to trust.

In Erin, Preacher finds something that doesn't exist in his own world: a smart, fierce, independent woman who sets his blood on fire. For Erin, the mysterious man who threatens her life might very well be the only one who can save it.

Contains mature themes.

Too Violent & Crude For Me!

What disappointed you about Preacher?

Preacher is the president of a biker gang called the Buzzard's. The Buzzard's own the "drug trade" in Rapid City. The book is about gang life, prostitutes, and dirty cops. And of course change. I won't say I was disappointed in his character. His character was fairly well written. I didn't care for the story line.

What was most disappointing about Dahlia West’s story?

This is the first book I've listened to from Dahlia West. I purchased it based on the reviews and story line. This book was too violent and sexually crude for me. If this book is typical of her writing, I won't be listening or reading any more of her books. I regret finishing it and not returning it after the first 2 chapters.

Have you listened to any of Mason Lloyd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to Mason Lloyd before. I liked the performance he gave, even though I didn't like the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Preacher?

I would have cut the scene in the beginning when Preacher Killed two of his gang members for betrayal.

Any additional comments?

At times I found it hard to follow what was going on. There were moments where Preacher is remembering his past, however there was no lead in to that memory. The first time he started a memory I actually backed up the story thinking I had missed something. The author did this several times throughout the book, each time I kept thinking I was lost. Without giving a spoiler alert, I didn't care much for the ending. I could come up with at least two other possible endings which would have made more sense.

Another Five Star Hit From West!

What a captivating, and heart warming story! West has done it again! After listening to the Burnout series, I was excited to learn about the spin off, Rapid City Stories, and it's first story, Preacher. West does an outstanding job developing a plot that is well balanced with humor, drama, violence, steamy sex scenes with plenty of dirty talk, and a awesome HEA. What I liked even more than the plot, was the character development.

As leader of a MC club, Preacher has done a lot of bad things in his life, but when he is left for dead, he is forced to leave Rapid City to recover, and plot his revenge. He eventually finds himself on a ranch where he meets Erin. Their first encounter is not on the friendliest of terms, but they will soon learn they both need each other. Erin is strong independent women who is trying to prove she can make it, but in reality she needs assistance to run the ranch, and Preacher is the perfect person. As the days pass, and these two become closer, we see Preacher's character transform from the harden biker to a loveable man who is crazy about his women and dog. Their journey was fun to hear unfold, from the laugh out loud moments, playful banter to the steamy sex scenes. You can't help but to fall in love with these two characters. When trouble comes knocking, Preacher will whatever it takes to keep Erin safe.

Mason Lloyd did outstanding job narrating this story, and was able to portray the characters, and emotions flawlessly. I sure hope there are plans to release West's other series in audio! I'm definitely on-board for any future books by the West/Lloyd team!

Just Love Preacher

I loved this book. It made me laugh and even shed a tear or two. I REALLY like the narrator. I will be listening to it again without a doubt. I loved how the brought in a few of the characters from the Burnout series. Nice to see Jack and Chris patch things up. Finally Rawlings gets what he deserves!!!! There were a few inconsistencies. and editing was a bit weird in a few instances but over all I really loved it.

A funny romance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake! He was sweet and protected his family. Loving and strong.

Which scene was your favorite?

I LOVED the fight between Jake and the rooster! I LOVED IT! It was hilarious. I laughed so hard i cried. "Cock-a-doodle-do Mother Fucker!" LOL!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed mostly and my heart was touched, with a little teardrop here and there.

Any additional comments?

Very good writing.

If all MCC books were this good, I’d read more of them.

I haven’t read too many motorcycle club books, but I really liked the narrator’s voice and listened to all of the books in the Burnout series before moving on to Jack’s story. This was my favorite of all of them, probably because it had very little to do with the motorcycle club. It was a redemption story, and I’m a big fan of those.

Good book! Well worth the credit!!!!

I really enjoyed this book!!! Great narrator and good story line! I would suggest listening/reading the Burnout series first - it gives you a little insight on some of the characters. This book kept my interest from beginning to end! Love , romance, suspense and HOT scenes - loved it!!

Amazing surprise!

First thing first: did anyone else feel like there were paragraphs missing? At least in the audiobook, sometimes I got a sense that, either the author forgot to write stuff or the narrator skipped lines. Showers that never happened, kisses that didnt exist, clothes that were magically on or off a character, conversations that NEVER took place, secrets revealed that werent uttered, unexplicable contradictions here and there. Things like that; it confussed me sometimes. And it knocked a star out of my rating.

Second: the narrator. Im beginning to get annoyed by the fact that there are lots of books with dual POVs, but only one narrator. Not this one though. Mason Lloyd does such a fantastic job, that a female narrator wasnt even necessary for this story.

Third: my expectations. I went through Shooter a while ago, the first book I came across from this author, and even though I liked it, I didnt love it. Soooo, I had mix feelings when I started this story, which ended up being a good thing, because from the beginning, I was pleasently surprised by the fast pace of the plot as well as the fact that it only took about two chapters to hook me in.

4th: my favorite parts. Every scene that revolves around the animals and Jack. Their interactions are HILARIOUS. You can easily fall in love with the guy just through his conversations with Duke, his bikering with Be and King, and his fights with Julio! Priceless!!!

Fifth thing: what I loved. Practically EVERYTHING! The way the plot flowed, the growing of the characters, the way their relationship took root without insta-love, how they changed but still remained true to how they started at the same time... See? Practically everithing.

Sixth: what I'd change. The jumps in time. I'd rather have a larger book, because I loved the interactions of the characters, all of them (even the animals) and I would've loved to have more. The contradictions within the book, they need editing (storywise).

another outstanding book

I loved it! full on action & romance with humour too. the funniest part was Jack, the dog & the roaster, HD hated that roaster especially when it totally outsmarted Jack, the best laugh I've had in along time. I highly recommend this book
