Blade McCormick is not a nice guy. He’s pure adrenaline and smells like smoke and leather - the kind of guy you look at and know he’s going to be a combination of nasty and irresistible. The moment I allowed myself to touch his hot skin and kiss his full lips, I. Was. Done.
Like currency, I’ve become part of a transaction. Blade took me to pay off a debt. I try to tell myself, Eve, you should hate him. He’s a bad guy. But then again, I’m not a good girl. Blade’s the president of the Disciples, the notorious motorcycle club. I should be frightened, yet somehow, he doesn’t scare me. If anything, I think I scare him.

My reason for giving 4 stars for performance is due only to Devon Grace and the way she personified the female character. For whatever reason, she chose to have a whispering type of voice throughout the book for Eve and it was odd. It didn’t turn me off of the book completely, it just wasn’t my favorite interpretation of a character.
Troy Duran on the other hand, did a fantastic job! I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed his interpretation of Blade/Jason. He made me want to get in bed with that character he was so sexy. I’m so thankful and excited to see that, in spite of the fact that the female lead vocalists change with each book in the series, Troy Duran continues to do the male lead vocals. This really makes me look forward to listening to the next installment.
My reasoning for giving the story 4 stars instead of 5 is due to personal preference regarding the male lead. He’s a totally hot steamy sexy do-me-now biker King, and all that works fabulously. However, Blade’s proclivity for refusing to submit to a monogamous relationship in spite of the fact that Eve is the only one he wants and he knows it, (not to mention some of his actions and the way he treats her at times) made me want to slam his head into the nearest cement wall. There were points in the story line where it was a bit hard to like Blade. There was one point in particular where I downright hated him, and I wasn’t sure if he would be (could be) redeemed in my opinion of him. However, by the end I did feel he was redeemed and I forgave him.
These two particular points aside, this book was great! I loved it, I enjoyed listening to it, and in fact I will probably listen to it again sometime in the future. The fact that it will end up being a repeat read speaks volumes for me.
So in sum I have to say well done to Cassandra Robbins and I’m excited to enjoy book 2 in the Disciples Series!

When I go into a new biker series, I am always expecting it to be dark and dirty, but it is not often they can deliver. This delivered, big time!! Blade might have had be swooning hard for his bad boy ways but there is no way around it he really is not a nice guy. As the president of The Disciples, he has an image to keep up and getting his hands on Eve has been his plan from the start. There is something about her that gets under his skin. If Blade isn't careful the King will have found the Queen, he didn't know he was looking for.
Eve is as fierce as they come, and she will have to keep that up if she ever wants to get out of The Disciples Clubhouse. Being sold to Blade shouldn't feel just as good as it does bad, but she refuses to let those feelings in. Her only job right now is to make sure her Dad is safe and to get Blade to fall in love with her. If she can get him to fall in love with her then she might have the chance at escaping. Only Eve shouldn't have underestimated Blade because while he might just be a biker, he is always two steps ahead of her.
Let's be honest, I only listened to this book for Troy Duran. He does growly, gravely, and sexy like no one else can. Even knowing all of that he still surprised me with his performance of Blade. Devon Grace did a really good job with Eve. This was my first narration by her, but I look forward to seeing what else she can do with her smooth and sweet voice.
Be prepared for seriously sexy bikers, plenty of steam and even emotions you could have never seen coming. This was my first Cassandra Robbins book, and I can't wait to see what else she has coming for The Disciples. While Blade isn't nice, I don't think he is going to be the worst of the worst and I am entirely here for it.
