Love, love, love this hot romance!!!

I loved loved loved Her Husband's Harlot! Both the story and the performance were first-rate. This is a different kind of Regency romance (definitely erotic and not for those wanting a sweet Regency), with characters that had me rooting for their happy ending all the way through.

There was so much I loved about the story (the steamy scenes and sexual tension between the hero and heroine, the humor, the heart-warming moments). There were lots of really funny scenes with dialogue that just sparkled. The narrator did a terrific job of doing all the voices, female and male, and the accent was spot on. I hope there is a sequel!

Hot

This was a very hot book, very enjoyable. There were only a few moments I felt some angst. I wish the author hadn’t taken the brutality of his past THAT far. Narration was pretty good. The male voice wasn’t as masculine as I’d like but was able to tell the difference between male and female. I’m excited to hear the next book and hope it’s as hot as this one.

Underwhelming

I saw another review that said that there was a gratuitous amount of sex scenes that didn't help move the story forward and I should have taken it more to heart. I love a good historical fiction story with smoot, but this was over the top. I finished the book because I don't like leaving open ends, but it was rough. It was hard to get invested in the characters while the sex scenes felt like they were written by a man in many instances.

Gotta get past the first couple of chapters

I guess the title should have been a warning The story premise is different and a good start to the series, but that first chapter was not romantic, or even steamy sexy, it boarders on smutty. I’ve listened to dozens of “bodice rippers” but (spoiler alert) this one opens with a very graphic 3 way in a whore house (not the main characters). I’m no stranger to rough language, and have heard and used all of those words but this was kinda over the top. Once I found out that this was her first novel I took a chance on it calming down and I’m glad to say it did. The rest of the book concentrates on the story, with a few more steamy sex scenes, but they are more in line with telling the story and doesn’t feel like porn anymore. So, f you can get past that and hang in, you will find a good read.

A Stand Out Romance

Her Husband’s Harlot is a detailed, romantic, excited ride into Regency London. From the first chapter I was captivated with the story and the characters. I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Helena and Nicholas. The turmoil they faced and ultimately their HEA. It wasn’t a forced ending; they gradually progress to this journeys end. Also, I enjoyed being there with Helena as she discovered her sexual awareness with herself and her husband. Very Sensual!!!! It was a good read. So much so, I didn’t notice the length of the book and wanted it to continue.

Erin’s narration with the book was decent. I enjoyed her accent with each character. My only objection is that sometimes it was hard to distinguish between the male and female characters.

Worth a credit, Yes.

Good plot but too much unnecessary sex

I agree with some of the other reviewers - the plot in this book didn’t need all the sex. There was a good plot and the relationship problems for the couple was big enough without needing to go into the details of their sex. That being said - still enjoyed the story just sort of tuned out of a lot of the sex scenes. Narrator did a decent job.

Ugh 😩 the narrator ruined a great story!

This was a decent story which I highly recommend you read not listen to by this particular narrator. Honestly Rosalyn Landon should teach a class on narrating regency romances. No one else can do it quite like she does. This narrator’ s mispronunciations of “ton” was grating! Her male voices cringe 😬, her “working class” accents were just terrible.

Could be a great series …

Overall an enjoyable historical romance about an unconventional heroine and a tortured, damaged hero.

I felt like significant issues were left unresolved. Like her father coming over for money. Was that connected to the villains or just gambling addiction. She never told her husband about the visit which didn’t fit, and I wanted some kind of resolution to that situation. Not just he’s a happy grandfather. I found that disappointing.

And finally the narrator. It’s a pet peeve of mine when people mispronounce “the ton” and I’m guessing I have that to look forward to for the whole series. There were other little mispronunciations but nothing that made my ears bleed like that one. I just think if you are going to read historical books, you should have listened to a few. Or a few hundred. Lord knows we have.

Great Historical Romance

Her Husband's Harlot an enjoyable listen. This was a romance with a bit of a mystery intertwined; there was also humorous moments. Plus the love scenes where HOT.

The main characters Helena and Nicholas where well developed. The heroin Helena had some insecurity but instead of fretting over them she came up with ways (Which where enjoyable to read) to overcome in some cases just jumped in without over thinking. Nicholas was not the usual alpha male with too much ego nor was he the usual brooding silent type. He was also dealing with his own securities and secrets. His relationship with his wife forced him to trust. The interaction between the characters was fun to read. The secondary characters where an added bonus to Her Husband's Harlot. Hopefully the next book in the series "Her Wanton Wager" will be available on Audible soon.
