Publisher's summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Critic reviews

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

I love this series but....

This is one of my favorite series so I decided to buy the books in audio version. They are good except the voice for Bones. I hate to say it but he sounds like Eliza Doolittle with a cold. I really like Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, I have other books she’s done and have enjoyed her performances, but she really missed the mark on Bones.

Loved it!

So if your like me I’m a straight up vampire and werewolf fan. This story is much different than most I listen to. Give the story a chance if you’re not sure about in the first few chapters.
The narrator is great!

Pretty good vamp story

Not a fan of the ending plot twist… but overall found it entertaining and I would continue the series! The male voice annoys me slightly too, but it grew on me overtime (still not my fav though lol)

Completely Awesome!

I so throughly enjoyed this story that (after being dissapointed the other books in the series weren't on audio), I went out and purchased the remaining 3 books and read ALL within 4 days - completely unherd of for me! (I had to go to 3 book stores to find them, the sales staff @ ea. store said they were VERY popular).

I felt the book was very well written, the charaters are well devloped and the story flowed and concluded well, leaving you hungry for more.

These books were a great blend of action, mystery, romance, sex, and the supernatural(mainly in the form of vampires).
There was alot of violence, but not overly done, & some profanity, so heads up if you're sensitive to this kind of material. But unlike many supernatural stories I didn't find this spiturally disturbing.
Another thing I appreciated was that the author doesn't dissapoint when it comes to the passionate intimacy Cat and Bones share (unlike Twlight which I LOVED but left me high and dry in that dept.). If you get to the 3rd book there's a great inclusion of Vlad Tepes (AKA Dracula) into the story.
I mention the other books in the series as a testament as to how enjoyable the story was, and as a warning as to how addictive they are!
Narrator did a wonderful job w/ her British accent of Bones.

Finally! Cat and Bones on audio book!

I have loved this series for a long time. I was very excited to see that it has come out on audio book. Cat is a strong, but very human heroine. Bones is a very sexy, witty hero that reminds me a lot of Spike from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." The book is every bit as entertaining and enjoyable the second time around. I look forward to being able to listen to the rest of the series.

The reader does a good job bringing you into the story. Great book!

Perfect Match

Jeaniene and Tavia are a great combo. Bones is real and Cat is relatable. That is hard to accomplish apparently because so many authors struggle with realistic characters in the paranormal/fantasy genres. Jeaniene is worth every credit. Enjoy!

It's Better Than I Thought It Would Be!!

Everyone has different tastes in their reading material, but this one is RIGHT up my alley. It has humor, action and romance in all the right places! If this Audible book was a paperback in my hands I wouldn't have been able to put it down! The author and narrator do a great job of creating the characters and pulling you into the story. I loved this book and will be listening to it again!!

Bones' Voice is Just Wrong

I started this as an audiobook then finished it on my Kindle. It was a much better book to read than listen to. The narrator was fine except when she spoke as Bones. She made him sound like Eliza Doolittle's father in the movie My Fair Lady. Except the voice was two octaves higher and Bones must have been on crack. There was absolutely nothing "sexy-vampirish" about him. I couldn't buy the building romance because he sounded like her Cockney grandfather, or great-grandfather. He was an old vampire, but a young man.

I trust that future books in the series explain how Cat's half-vampire bloodline affects her. Could she stand full sun or could she only come out on cloudy days in the daytime? But the book didn't capture my attention for long enough that I will go further in the series.

I don't recommend this book, but it wasn't terrible, just mediocre. If you are tempted to read it in audio format - don't. I can't honestly say how much the narrator affected my opinion of the book. If I never attempted the audio version I might have enjoyed it more.

Love the Book, but not sure about the narrator

I love the book, but the narrator made Bones sound like one of the pirates on Pirate of the Caribean. Hard to find Bones sexy when he sounds like a moron. The book is one of my favorites though.

Addictive!

Be forewarned: if you begin listening to the Night Huntress series, you won't be able to stop! I loved this book. Frost is a great storyteller, keeping the novel at a high pace all the way until the end. She pulls you completely into this different world. And, Tavia Gilbert is the perfect person to narrate the book, aptly adopting different voices/accents for the various characters. This book is a must have.
