Love - on the rocks...

The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a brokenhearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that come with her.

Lydia Green doesn't know whether to scream or cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing altogether. Just when this runaway bride has nowhere left to turn, a handsome stranger offers her a broad, muscular shoulder to cry on. Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessmen she's normally drawn to. This former musician turned bartender is rough around the edges and is facing his own crossroads. But Lydia's already tried Mr. Right and discovered he's all wrong. Maybe it's time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?

Dirty is the first audiobook in the Dive Bar series from best-selling author Kylie Scott.

Critic Reviews

"Narrator Andi Arndt highlights Lydia's deadpan humor, traversing her changing feelings with elegant proficiency. Vaughan and Lydia's conversations and sexual encounters feature distinct voices that match their genders and personalities. Lydia's voicing is lower, with pure, sweet undertones, while Vaughan's maintains a rough edge. Arndt conveys Vaughan's uncertainty about his shaky music career and his awkward attempts to chart a new course." ( AudioFile)

Another Home Run for Andi Arndt & Kylie Scott!

Just finished Dirty by Kylie Scott narrated by Andi Arndt. Let me tell you, I LOVE STAGE DIVE...HARD but Dirty is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! Kylie Scott always makes me laugh, get a little weepy, and worry. I love Lydia so much. She's one of the best heroines ever, imho. Ballsy but still doubts herself, hilarious, confident, kind, and not rail thin!! Holy crap, she's fluffy!

If you haven't listened to Kylie Scott's books, please do. Andi Arndt absolutely kills them. She turns a great amazing book into an out of this world event. I really really love the little world they create where I can escape and spend time with some fantastic characters. Well done ladies! I can't wait for the next Dive Bar audiobook!!

OH THE JOYS OF ANOTHER GREAT LISTEN

It's an auto download for me when it comes to Kylie Scott's books because I know I'm going to be thoroughly entertained by her loveable and well developed characters who capture your imagination as well as your heart. She immediately has you locked and drawn into their lives, loves, dreams and dramas as each story deliciously unfolds throwing in humor, witty banter, passion and sex along the way too.

And this first book in her new Dive series had all the usual ingredients that makes her books addictive, unstoppable and pretty damn awesome. Vaughan and Lydia's love story was so well written and described that I could picture each scene.... from a shell-shocked bride hiding out in a strangers bath - to the tear filled reunion and declaration of undying love.... and all the highs and lows in between. But it was Andi Arndt's narration that brought it alive, gave the hero a sexy voice and made it such an enjoyable audiobook. Told from Lydia's POV.

Worth a credit? Oh YEAH.... it was touching and tender - sweet and sexy - romantic and dramatic.... and I loved every word.

Just amazing

Do yourself a favor and buy this! Such a great story! It pulls you in from the start and doesn't let go. The narrator's voice is soothing and just wonderful to listen to. In my opinion sometimes when a woman is reading it and does the male voice it sounds too forced and ridiculous. In this instance it was natural and really well done. Definitely one of my favorites

Great read/listen

I've been thinking about this review because I don't usually write longer reviews. I really enjoyed this book. Vaughan and Lydia were great characters with a lot of personality and Andi Arndt does a wonderful job bringing them to life. But the secondary characters were also great and well-written. This is a standalone novel, but I find myself wanting to know what happens to Nel and Pat and is Eric a manwhore with no redeeming qualities besides excellent cocktails? These are important questions and inquiring minds want to know. You don't have to read the Stage Dive series to enjoy this book, but why would you not? And one of the guys makes a visit.

AWWWWWWWE VAUGHN AND HIS BABE!!!!!!

What made the experience of listening to Dirty the most enjoyable?

ALL OF IT!!! I LOVED IT ALL!!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lydia and Vaughn...I cant pick!

Have you listened to any of Andi Arndt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Several, she is great!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

BOTH!!! Kylie's books always make me laugh and cry!

Any additional comments?

I am just burning through Kylie's books! I love this series...I dont know how I am going to wait for book 2!!!

Lydia gets really bad news n her wedding day...and becomes a runaway bride...she is out of her mind upset and after scaling a wall she kind of breaks into a neighbors house...lol She is hiding in the shower when Vaughn comes home, he turns on the shower, gets naked...and they meet each other...he is very understanding...its quite funny...and BOOM a very unique friendship ensues....and in the end TRUE LOVE!!! I love Kylie's HEA endings....her books are perfect girlie/sexy/fun mix...and my heart gets really happy listening to them... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!

What a fun, sexy book!

4.5 Stars

This book was so fun! I giggled at lot at this snarky girl who's life just "fell apart" (kinda) and she is so feisty and funny! Lydia rates in my top favorite female characters ever. She is a girly girly on occasion, she is a little self conscience sometimes and she knows how to say it like it is. Vaughan is a seriously hot, kinda broody, say it like it is type of guy! These two crash into each other from the beginning. I loved their banter and honesty, oh and the sex was HOT HOT HOT too!

Ok so here it is...the reason for the 1/2 star, I just can't get on with the insta-love thing! Even though it was done very well in this book and these characters really did have the extreme connection I just think 2 week is not long enough and it feels like major lust/attraction and I know they have an emotional connection but love??? I needed more time with them to feel the love, more events, occasions, or something that happened between them to make it feel like love, it definitely felt like they were falling for sure but it just didn't quite convince me. This is just my opinion because I feel very strongly about insta-love but honestly the book was great!

The narration was incredible as always! I love Andi Arndt and she really does really good at the male voice too!

Can I give this one 10 stars???

How does she do it???

I go through periods of time where a Kylie Scott book isn't being read for months and somehow my brain forgets that I should be judging every other book against hers.

Surely not so many 5 stars would come up if I could just remember that.

Vaughn and Lydia's story was spectacular. Seriously. Lydia is a runaway bride and Vaughn is back into his hometown after going belly up with his band. The story centers around the Dive Bar that is owned by this group of friends including Vaughn. Lydia and Vaughn meet and are instantly connected to each other.

The thing that makes this book stand out is not in the story itself, although it is pretty great, it's in Scott's ability to bring in humor to even the most dyer of situations and she creates these unforgettable characters that you end up loving like family. Wishing more than anything that they were real so you could hang out.

If I could, I'd give more than 5 stars and bringing Mal back in the fray, even for a moment... this is being put as one of my favs.

And Andi Arndt... She makes me feel Dirty as I listen to her man voice and it does stuff to me. She is my most favorite narrator, truly gifted.

Four letter words aplenty - otherwise a bore

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Give it more action and less repetitive dialogues and countless inner monologues consisting of "Oh, he is so hot!". Also give the heroine some guts - constant dirty talking does not a strong woman make LOL One needs a bit of character for that - and that's what she is sadly lacking.
The title is misleading - you open the book expecting some stirring romance and erotica only to get a soppy mess.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something more intelligent.

What about Andi Arndt’s performance did you like?

It's o'k for this king of material.

Did Dirty inspire you to do anything?

Yes, most definitely put the author into "oh, no, not again" list.

Any additional comments?

Wasted time and money. Even at sale price.

So many smiles and laughs coupled with a great story!

I smiled from beginning to end. I loved the easy dialogue that had a great flow and rhythms. I loved all the humor coupled with the very relatable feelings. I also thought the author was able to deftly mix in the hot love scenes with the touching interactions. I can not wait to listen to more by this author and narrator combination!

Great story

I loved the feistiness of Lydia and the charisma of Vaughan. The author did a great job of bringing out the personalities of the characters. I really enjoyed the craziness of Lydia. I laughed throughout this book and the situations and the things that the characters do and say. This is a well rounded book. The narrator is one of my favorites. She does such a great job that it is very easy to see the feminine woman and the masculine man with her voice. Looking forward to more of Kylie Scott's books.

Wow another great story

I loved loved loved Kylie Scott's Stage Dive series so much that I've been trying to fill a void ever since! This book is loosely connected to that series and I'm so excited to see what comes next ...

I loved Lydia as a BBW (Big Beautiful Woman) I have been waiting for Plus Sized real women in erotica and romance storylines for a very long time. Kylie's Dive Bar Novel was just what I was looking for😊
Having listened to the other series I was prepared to get funny looks from others as I burst out in giggles and stifled a few laugh out loud moments too!

Andi Arndt is just brilliant and putting these too very gifted women's talents together made this book an excellent fit...

S0 So

Whilst I have loved previous books from Kylie not sure why this one never really hit the mark and as bad as it sounds I can't really put finger on it ...sorry nothing wrong with writing or narration but never connected with the characters which was such a shame the outline of the story is up there with her stage dive books ....but hey ho it will not stope me from carrying on with her books as i loved the stage dive series ..

Girlie Soft Porn Romance

Teenage writing made adult by descriptive porn masquerading as love. Interest sustained only because I could believe it could get any worse. Preposterous story. Mills & Boon with rampant heroine pursuing man with a large organ. I will never read this author again. 2 stars as I DID get through. Luvvy divvy ending. But is thus literature? More a low brow soap opera.

Disappointed in Dirty!

Would you be willing to try another book from Kylie Scott? Why or why not?

I'd be willing to try another book by Kylie Scott. I would like to hear her work performed by a different narrator to see if that breathes more life into her characters.

What didn’t you like about Andi Arndt’s performance?

I've listened to a few titles narrated by Arndt and have found her a bit hit and miss. Alas, this one is a definite miss. I found it hard to detect any difference between story narration and character performances. Her male voice overs were weak and in this novel, her female voice over was grating in the extreme.

Any additional comments?

There really isn't much of a storyline here. The interaction between the male and female leads could have made for interesting listening however the poor performance by the narrator blew any chance of that happening. After listening to the Stage Dive series, this Spin-off book was a disappointment. If you're going to spend coin on this series, skip the audio version and read it for yourself.

Great Story

Dirty is a GREAT FANTASTIC WONDERFUL follow up feom the Stage Dive series, Kylie Scott can write a strong story where you are wanting to know what happens to the characters. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
