Fun Hockey Romance

What did you love best about Destiny on Ice?

That Brent was mostly on board with the life coaching, he did his best to be the best hockey player he could be.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Al and Brent 51. These 2 are wonderfully fun and green!

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but when I do in the future I'll know that I'm in for a wonderful performance!

Any additional comments?

Entertaining and interesting story, and the writing is on point. The hockey aspect is fun, and these characters get into some wacky scenarios, which adds to the bit of humor in this story. Brent, a hockey player, hasn't been giving his all to his hockey career; he's been partying too much, and it's affecting his game play, so his team hires a life coach to get him back on track. Aubrey is the life coach, and she's surprised to find out that her client is the guy she was drooling over at a party, but didn't exactly have a great experience with him. This is a bit of an enemies to lovers story, Aubrey and Brent have a major attraction towards each other, but since they got off on the wrong foot and it would be unprofessional to become involved with a client. I was back and forth on Aubrey, I thought she was too silly and immature to be a life coach, so she was bothering me at times. I get that some her antics were suppose to be comical, but she came off as a pinch too ditzy. I liked Brent, he's sweet and fun. Brent and Aubrey are really cute together, and have nice chemistry, and they have some hot times. I like that they have more between them than just sex, and that they have fun together. I listened to the audio version of this book, and the narrator does a great job. She does both female and male voices, and she does a good job; she did make Brent sound a bit more lecherous than he was being at times though, lol, but overall, it was a good listening experience, so I'd recommend the audio. Destiny on Ice is a cute, fun story, and I look forward to reading the next books in this series; Aubrey's sestra (sister) (Love Orphan Black!) is going to be an interesting one! And reading about Brent's team mates meeting the women that bring them to their knees is something I will enjoy reading! Looking forward to more from SR Grey!

Team Braubrey!

What did you love best about Destiny on Ice?

The humor! This was a very funny sports rom com that had some truly laugh out loud moments!

What other book might you compare Destiny on Ice to and why?

I think Destiny on Ice is similar to Serena Bowen and Elle Kennedy's WAGs series. It's part sports romance and part romantic comedy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where the team was in Chicago for a game and Brent overheard Aubrey's phone call. Brent trying to figure out who Al was and his explanations for the role Al played in Aubrey and her sister's lives was hilarious! I had the same reaction as Aubrey when the truth was revealed!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I definitely laughed a lot! No tears though, since it was a pretty lighthearted and easy story. Probably the most emotional part had to do with Brent's family, rather than his relationship with Aubrey.

Any additional comments?

I normally really enjoy Tracy Marks narration, but this time I wasn't a huge fan of her male voices. There was just something off about the tone for me. It almost felt like she was trying too hard to make her voice masculine/deep. It didn't detract from the story, but I definitely preferred her Aubrey chapters.

Cute, fun, and witty sports romance!

Cute, fun, and witty sports romance!

When I started this book, I thought it was going to be the typical "player is a bad boy, team hires woman to date him, they fall in love and live happily ever after" and was a little hesitant to continue. I'm glad I decided to stick with it because, even though it kind of followed that path, it was missing one huge aspect that would make it like ever other book. That missing piece made this all the more appealing for me and I couldn't put it down. Do you want to know what that missing part is? You will have to read for yourself to find out!

A romantic comedy that is fun to listen to.

Brent is a typical hot shot who thinks his drinking and loose lifestyle does not effect his game. Aubrey is sent to get him back on track to be the captain he is supposed to be and lead the team right. Only they have met before and sparks are flying everywhere and in green too!

I have not laughed so hard at a story in a long time. I loved this book from beginning to end. It is not a typical romance. It is a hysterical one, filled with trials and heart breaks and so much fun.

Traci Marks is a great narrator. She helped bring the characters, and their romance to life. She was easy to listen to. Her different pitches helped keep the characters separate and made the story easy and FUN to follow.

Wow!!! What a story!

S.R. Grey is a new author to me and I am so glad that I found her! I am definitely a fan. I loved the humor and steam she writes into her books. Tracy Marks is the perfect narrator for this book. She is able to perform so many different characters with distinguishable voices. Having grown up enjoying hockey, I found this book so delightful! This is the first book that I have listened to featuring a hockey player and a life coach. I thought that this enemies to lovers story was so well written. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was given this audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. The love story of Brent and Aubrey is a standalone listen and part of a series. I definitely hope that the next book in the series comes out on audio as that is the story of Nolan and Lainey (Aubrey's sister). This book is worth a credit and listening to again. I will definitely be buying more books by this author and those performed by the narrator.

Meh

Not my favorite book by this author which was disappointing since I love all of her other books. I'm not discouraged from trying her again but it won't be another book from this series.

I'll Never Think of Area 51 the Same Way Again!!!

I had the pleasure of reading this book before listening to it and below is my review of the book itself. I loved hearing this story come to life and the way Ms. Marks was able to embody both Brent and Aubrey!!!

This book was such a needed reprieve from the seriousness of some of the other books I've recently read. It was lighthearted and funny and the chemistry between Brent and Aubrey was oozing off the pages even though they didn't want to admit it to each other.

The book starts a couple of days before Aubrey is to start a new assignment as a life coach to a new client that she knows nothing about, except that he or she is a celebrity of some type. Instead of getting ready for this oh so important assignment, she's convinced by sister to go to a party that's being thrown several miles from her house so Aubrey can relax and let go so to speak. And let go she does with some headache inducing consequences!

And those consequences show up the next day in Vegas when Aubrey meets her new client! I have never laughed so hard in my life as I did while reading this book! There's a particular scene when Aubrey has decided to use some recent purchases that result in glowing lights, embarrassment and letting the whole world, or a particular person, know how you feel about them and not on purpose!!!

Brent and Aubrey, even with their differences bring out the best in each other and they both need to remember there's more to life than work, work, work! Pick this book up for a hot, sexy and funny read that'll make you smile from beginning to end!

Not Good

Any additional comments?

I just couldn't get into this. Everything felt very contrived. Romance is of course not always realistic, but this was so far out in left field that it was beyond my imagination. The main female character was supposed to be a highly professional woman who was type A and great at her job. The things she did and the way she acted after she made mistakes did not reflect this. I found the whole thing irritating and couldn't finish. The narrator was just fine.

I was disappointed.

I wasn’t a fan of the narrator she did a good job with Brent’s voice. The book was o.k it won’t be on my re-read list. It has some funny moments. I thought Aubrey was very childish for being a “life coach”. I expected her to be a little more mature. Brent was allowed to be an a** and all was forgiven because he was so hot. Brent wasn’t a bad character I don’t think he was near as immature and I expected him to be the worse. I am also not fan of the OMG! He said sex. Isn’t she an adult that has been around celebrities surely she has heard some things. So to be so “innocent” drives me insane. Again, it was ok but I would save my money and skip it, there are better hockey books out there.

Enjoyable Listen

This book was gifted to me by audiobook boom in exchange for an honest review.
The story of Aubrey and Brent, Brent a top class ice hockey player who has lost his mojo far top much partying and Aubrey as a first rate life coach drafted in to set him back on an even keel . they meet at a party following Aubrey crashing in his bed both parties unbe known to the other the story has its twist and turns through out and the inclusion to the introduction to Nolan and Benny fellow players and Laney Aubreys sister will look forward to their stories .
The narration by Tracey Marks is super but then i am a big fan of this narrator and was in part the reason for me requesting the book in the first place as this is my first novel by this author but will look forward to her follow ups .

A great start to this series

I love sports romance, and hockey is my favourite, add in forbidden love and dual POV and this was a win win for me. Brent Oliver is the team captain who is losing his way somewhat, partying a little too hard, alcohol and women a plenty. In an attempt to get him back on track management hire life coach Aubrey Shelburne. Can Aubrey get him back to peak performance without falling for his cute ways and hot has hell body. Wonderful writing, captivating story, lots of sexy times, with a lot of laughter added in, and I really enjoyed this book, a great start to this series. Tracy Marks nailed the narration for both Brent and Aubrey. Spot on. I was provided with and audio version of this book via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review.
