Publisher's Summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

    "Superb story....fantastic narrator!!!"

Kresley Cole is gifted..pure and simple! This story held my attention from the moment it began to the very last syllable! I believe that the narrator can make or break a book and Mr. Petkoff is absolutely perfect. I can't say enough about his unique presentation. What a talent! I could listen to him all day. I'll be moving on to the rest of the series now! Thank you both!

    "Super sexy voice!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, I thought Phil Gigante was the ultimate male narrator, but Robert Petkoff gives him a run for his money. It is so well read/acted that you can't help but stop what you are doing and listen

What did you like best about this story?

the narrator and that scottish accent. Loves that he acts the book, and just doesn't read it. I loved the way the main male character overcame his hate for what his true love was, how he seduced her.

    Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite part was the trip to Scotland when he had misconceptions about Emmaline

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, if I could have listen to it all in one sitting I would have

    Any additional comments?

    Great narrator!

    "SERIES LIKE NO OTHER! :)"

This was a great start to a new series...well I realize it isn't new, but for me it is. :)

A friend told me about this series, and I'm glad I listened! Although I am currently on book five in this series, I can honestly say that they continue to get better and better!! This first one, while it isn't my favorite, it is a great start as Kresley Cole introduces the Lore (world of supernatural and immortal beings). There is a lot to take in, but it is done very well making it easy to follow.

Hunger Like No Other focuses on Lachlain MacRieve, a Lykae (aka werewolf) King, who escapes from vampire torture to find his mate. Once he finds her, Emmaline, he discovers that she is half vampire...an enemy to werewolves. Emmaline, who is actually the last female vampire, has been pretty sheltered all her life after her parents died. While she is finally seeking the answers to her past, she meets MacRieve, and is taken on a ride that will change everything. As they travel across the country, her acting as his guide, to his home in Scotland...there is a lot of tension, prejudice, and...well...let me just say things get interesting. ;)

I am loving this new Lore world, and the characters are amazing...and so many good lines!! Robert Petkoff, the narrator, is really great!! At first his some of his impressions seemed weak, but he grows on you and gets better over time and does a fantastic job!! I'm in for a long ride as I continue this series. So excited!!

    "Love it!"
Where does A Hunger Like No Other rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Of all the books I've listened to this one is very near the top.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

Might compare it to Jeaniene Frost's Cat & Bones tales. Don't we all just love "beauty and the beast" stories.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Scottish accent just does it for me. He makes Lachlain sound exactly what I picture him to be like. Great narrating.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Extreme pleasure yes.

    Any additional comments?

Cannot wait to get to the rest of the series.

    "Best reader I've heard!"

I have one thing to say about Robert Petkoff reading these books....WOW!!! He is the perfect person to read these characters. Rarely do you come across an actor who can not only play all male characters very convincingly but also play female characters and make you forget it's a male reading the character. Not to mention the accents he does are spot on! He makes listening to these great stories so enjoyable I find myself getting lost in them. I'd like to hear him read Christine Feehan's books as well...he'd be perfect for those too!

    "Wow!"
Would you listen to A Hunger Like No Other again? Why?

I would totally listen to this book over and over again. The passion in the book is so great.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

Fifty Shades is a series I can compare it to. The passion is similar. I can image the scenes in my head very clearly.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

I really like the accents he used for the different characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I did have a reaction to the whole book, I went around talking about the characters to family and friends.

    Any additional comments?

I loved this book and ended up going to bed so much later than I was suppose to. I could not wait to order the next book in the series and am now on the third book. I think that this series is absolutely great and have already told so many people about it. Fifthy Shades of Grey was great and so is Immortals After Dark.

    "Glad I got this!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of A Hunger Like No Other to be better than the print version?

I really do not have the time to read like I used to. My schedule is too complicated.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Hunger Like No Other?

The beginning is the memorable. I won't give it away, but it almost put me off. But, once I got past that I was okay. The beginning is really intense!!!

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first Robert P performance. I love the way he does accents and voices!! The female voices will grow on you trust me. It's a little interesting at first, but just remember it is a guy doing a chick's voice (keep everything in perspective)!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene when Emmaline decided to accept her destiny. And make the decision to choose her life for herself. That was a great moment for me. We all have that one moment to jump off the precipice or walk away, and she dove!!

    Any additional comments?

I suggest reading this series. It's really good, and I enjoyed it. Robert's performance was great, and I really loved the way he did Regan.
