Publisher's Summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

    "Couldn't get into it"

I can't say if it was the story, or my mood. I just couldn't get into this one, I'd been wanting to read it for a while, and after thoroughly enjoying another Kresley Cole novel I went for it. But just didn't grab me like The Arcana Chronicles.

It may have been the overbearing, possessive lead male character that put me off. I normally have no problem with that sort, but this time it was too much.

With three hours left I turned it off and haven't returned. I may go back for another try at a later time.

This book had substance. I like to read erotic books. I love when a story builds before the actually act. This story has more emotional romance than sexual romance. I enjoyed it a lot.

"Loved the narrator - sick of the heroine!!!"
Would you try another book from Kresley Cole and/or Robert Petkoff?

I'd listen to another narration by Robert Petkoff in a heartbeat. But, this is my first and last purchase of a Kresley Cole book. I thought I'd give Cole a try as I've never read any of her material. I'm now three quarters of the way through the book and am frankly sick, sick, sick of the heroine Emma. In the opening chapters, Emma had been repeatedly described as shy, timid - with little backbone. As the book progressed, I was gratified to see that she began to step up and grow some backbone. She definately started to come into her own. Unfortunately, the author swung her like a pendulum from one extreme to another. She went from timid, mousy Emma to this incredibly resistant shrew, harpy, "in your face", take no sh*t type chit. I began to feel sorry for Lachlain, her much spurned suitor. Perhaps he won't get his "happily ever after" and if he does he will definitely have to work for it.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like Robert Petkoff's take on a Scottish accent. He brings Lachlain's character to life and makes him sound oh so sexy.

What character would you cut from A Hunger Like No Other?

Can't think of any in particular.

    Any additional comments?

Was excited at first. Sounded as if it would be a good story of two people finding each other and falling in love, but this was grueling...almost, then 2 steps back...almost, then 1 step back...almost, then 3 steps back- too much like work. Wanted it to just end after a while.

What made the experience of listening to A Hunger Like No Other the most enjoyable?

I loved the follow through with everything from beginning to end.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where she was only able to drink from him in the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

He always gets what he wants........and so does she.

    Any additional comments?

I loved this book and will definitely continue with the series!

"Now all I want is a Scottish Werewolf!"
Where does A Hunger Like No Other rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was so fun it was in a class by itself.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

I guess the Black Dagger Brotherhood may compare. If you like this series you would like BDB. The world building is very detailed and stays consistent even though each book is about a different set of lovers.

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

    Lachlain MacRieve!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an extreme reaction to these characters, the Werewolves were a hoot and when they finally get down to it, it's hot.

    Any additional comments?

So far I've loved every book in this series except the last one and only because I haven't read it yet. The author does have a formula that by the 3rd book you've figured out but have no fear the mental masturbation does get relieved eventually so once you've read a few you can deal more easily. But although you can predict some of it, the story lines are great, they're well written and a whole lot of fun. I'd recommend this series to all my girls at work.

    "OH MY!"
Would you listen to A Hunger Like No Other again? Why?

Maybe, but I'm not a read a book again type of person. There are too many books out there that I haven't read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mist, because she is sanely insane. She made me laugh

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Robert Petkoff's performance, but he is awesome in this book. He brings the book to life. He is distinct in the characters and you can tell the difference who is who.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    I laughed out loud literally.

    Any additional comments?

    Good book, great narrator!

    "Boy Meets Girl"

Typical romance story with a predictable plot/storyline.

    - Girl meets boy
    - Instant sexual attraction
    - Both have issues to overcome
    - Passion builds
    - Conflict
    - Hot and steamy sex scenes
    - Love follows
    - Love finds a way.

Replace boy meets girl with Werewolf meets Valkyrie/Vampire and there you have it.

"Adolescent boy fantasy - which is fine if you are"

an adolescent boy! Or have crushes on them! The girl is a weak victim, the boy is a controlling bully/ abuser and they hate each other but are fated to be together and they have CHEMISTRY so the sex is good.
I'm kinda sorry I bought this one. I usually like fantasy and this writer gets so many stars so I thought it was a sure bet.
