Publisher's Summary

Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant", a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager.

What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating can do for women. This groundbreaking book shows readers the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be. By revealing the core desires every woman shares, to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a grand adventure, and to unveil beauty, John and Stasi Eldredge invite women to recover their feminine hearts, created in the image of an intimate and passionate God. Further, they encourage men to discover the secret of a woman's soul and to delight in the beauty and strength women were created to offer.

Like Honey on my Heart

I was skeptical of yet another book written about and for women- but I felt a little desperate and the title and excerpt I listened to on Audible intrigued me. I heard so many comforting things from God's word, I cried through much of the middle portion of the book. I haven't been able to stop thinking about some of the truths that were shared and it has profoundly affected how I think of myself. I will reread several times over, and take notes next time. I am looking forward to real changes as I implement some of the authors' suggestions.
Truly insightful book.

Not just for women.

Excellent book. This is not just for women! Men need this book to understand more the women in their lives. I will certainly give this another listen. This book shows that being a woman does not mean being a doormat or being weak. God created woman for a wonderful purpose and women are doing Him a dis-service by trying to be something they are not.

AMAZING!!

This book is so true of every woman. Me and my college roommate listened to this on a trip and loved every moment of it. John and his wife really get into the nitty gritty and put things in a way that it's easy to digest. I would highly recomend this to men and women alike!

My girlfriend to be recommended it, so....

What made the experience of listening to Captivating the most enjoyable?

As a man, at first the title didn't thrill me, but she was reading it and I wanted to know more about her so I purchased it. This book open my senses to a different spectrum of colors sort of speak. The narrative style was exquisite (yes big word for a guy like me). It really opened my eyes to see a different angle of women, a more intimate and intrinsic version on women. A version that we as men hardly see and that women almost never show. This book motivated me to see women in a higher, deeper and yet real way, and help me realize how little did I know about the true needs and identity of women from a godly perspective. In essence, this book readjusted my perspective, and definately approach to dealing with women in all aspects not just dating.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Eldredge and Stasi Eldredge ? Why or why not?

Yes, I am buying the book on dating.

What does John and Stasi Eldredge bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I buy books in Audible because of lack of time to read, and also because I get sleepy when reading. The tone of voice and the emphasizes in the narrative makes the story alive for me, like going to the theater.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many moments when I realize "boy, I am so wrong about this or that understanding".

Any additional comments?

Keep up the good work guys.

I couldn't relate at first. I never had little girl dreams. But it helped me understand my role as a mother with encouragement.

Terrible relationship advice

I hated this book. It perpetuates so many damaging and ridiculous stereotypes about women.

I read the book because I have enjoyed a few of John Eldredge's other books, but this was vapid. I'm not suggesting that it won't resonate with some women, or that those women should feel bad. I'm just saying evangelical women already struggle enough with what it means to be a Christian woman, and this book will further enslave more than it sets free.
