Publisher's Summary

From childhood on, something or Someone has called us on a journey of the heart. It is a journey full of intimacy, adventure, beauty, and more than a little danger. The Sacred Romance calls to us in our fondest memories, our greatest loves, our noblest achievements, even our deepest hurts. The reward is worth the risk. God Himself longs for us, if we are but willing.

First published in 1997, The Sacred Romance is quietly on its way to becoming a classic. Why have so many people connected so powerfully to the book? Authors Brent Curtis and John Eldredge put words to long-forgotten feelings. They voice our unspoken fears about God's goodness and our own emptiness. Without being preachy or cliche, the authors offer a glimpse of God's heart that is tender, risky, and compelling. The Sacred Romance is the story of our lives; it is God's story. It is His invitation to experience the beauty, intimacy, and adventure we secretly desire.

Very Good Book

This book is a must read, or listen to, for every person who wants to get closer to God. It explains why we should, why we have the desire to, and God's opened arms response to us.

The MOST INCREDIBLE book I have ever read.

I ended Up starting over from the beginning several times, not because I couldn’t understand it but rather because I wanted to get more and more out of it with each read. This is become the best book I have ever read in my lifetime. I encourage anyone who sees it to read it as well!

Personal Growth Guaranteed

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book has a unbelievable message about the soul. We have all experienced "arrows" as they call it in the book, or "hurts" in our lives whether we know it or not. This book helps you sort through your past and grow with a great understanding of who you were meant to be. I passionately loved this book. This will be a book you should read or listen to multiple times, or go through the audio and then dig into the book. Beautifully written!

Wow! Opened my eyes to me WITH God

Our story.
Striving to be something we aren't.
Understanding why we struggle so.
Thank God there IS One who loves us unconditionally and created us for that love.
But we run in every other direction.

Wonderful!!!

I loved this book. It's like a kiss from God. Until I really sat down and listened to this book, I didn't understand the emptiness and dryness I was feeling inside. I am excited to continue my journey with God surrendering myself while He uncovers my buried heart.

Avoiding pitfalls on the journey with Christ

In a transparent story style the authors invite us on a journey through life. A journey guided by our hearts, given to us by our creator and the lover of our souls. Their story answers the age old question, if God is so wonderful why am I not moved to pursue Him. I found their story to ring true in my heat as I began to contemplate my own journey.

Well worth the listen

Having listened to so many other John Eldredge books, some of these concepts were not new to me. The authors certainly found something fantastic in our relationship with our Creator. Well worth the listen. God wants community and a loving relationship with each of his children and this book shows that through the scriptures.

First real foray into writing and it shows

John's later books are substantially better. perhaps if I had started with this book, I might have appreciated it more. Wild at Heart and Fathered by God are far more polished and developed.
