The first standalone novel in The Pucked Series

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match. Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants.

Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant - and quirky - gifts. Suddenly he's too difficult to ignore and nearly impossible not to like. The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn't want to be part of the game.

This book was hysterically funny, with a quirky, awkward, real characters. The female narrator was fantastic. The male narrator was great when he was speaking like someone from the US. Otherwise, he sounded a cockney-Irish-Scottish guy pretending to be Canadian but sounding more confused than anything else. Usually, I look forward to a change in narrator when a new chapter starts. This is the first time I've actually groaned in defeat when the male character started a chapter. If it weren't for how incredibly talented the female narrator was, I would have returned the audiobook and instead read it on my kindle.

Why can't we have separate reviews for each narrator?

This was just really fun. It took me forever to finally take a chance. It was recommended to me by someone who told me I'd love it, and I did. The writing was funny. It had more depth than I expected. And the narration was great! Don't even know what else to say. Just a great, fun, listen from start to finish.

Really Fun!

This story makes me laugh out loud repeatedly. I love the way Ms. Hunting crafts the action and her characters are are so enjoyable. The voice actor for Violet was perfect and wonderfully talented. Alex, however, though also talented could not pull off a Canadian accent to save his life. He seemed talented enough but I really had to work to get over the Scottish (I think) brogue when listening. Truly miscast. I also thought the overall production was fair to poor. There were lots of edits and cuts that you could tell were edits and cuts. I was disappointed overall but glad I got this one on sale for $1.99 vs paying full price. I think if I had paid full price I'd ask for my money back.

Love the story, Alex is poorly miscast

Love, love, love this book. The narrators makes the characters come alive. This is outstanding. One of the best books ever.

Any additional comments?

Helena Hunting is an upper crust author and it's hard to go wrong with her books. From the very first chapter I was drawn in.

Although Violet's character was described as a bit of a nerd, and not one to be promiscuous, her actions painted a different spirit. Admittedly, having no control over her verbal spillage, it seems she had little control over other things her mouth did. And it was the latter that got her tangled with Alex. Alex, on the other hand, applied protective control over what he said. To the world, he appeared different than what he was. Violet was wary of hockey player, and rightly so.

It took time and heartbreak for the HEA to be achieved, but it was beautiful. And very, very hot, the little scamp!

Great Narration! The only thing that took a bit of time to adjust to was Alex's accent. Nathan Everett did an outstanding narrative, so don't get me wrong. But his accent wasn't what I would have for a Canadian man and his voice is higher pitched, where I prefer the Hero to be a bit gravely. Personal preference issue, only.

TWO THUMBS UP! Now... on to Buck's story!

I'M A HOCKEY FAN SO I KNOW HOW HOT THESE MEN ARE!
