Publisher's summary

Being kidnapped by aliens is one thing. Being kidnapped by aliens and sent to a prison planet is something infinitely worse.

Here in Haven’s prison system, I’m stranded among strangers, enemies, and the most ruthless criminals in the galaxy. There’s no safety for a human woman here, especially not one branded as a murderer. I’m doomed to a fate worse than death.

Then, he decides I should be his.

His name’s Jutari. He’s seven feet tall, blue, and horned. He’s an assassin and one of the most dangerous prisoners here. He’s like no one I’ve ever met before…and he might be my only chance. This a a standalone story that is marginally connected to the Ice Planet Barbarians series.

Ruby Dixon strikes a cord

Excellent read. I thoroughly enjoy this series. Ruby Dixon’s style is light and well thought out. You can see her characters , the far away plants they inhabit and find themselves on. Worth the read.

Sci-fi romance, prison planet, novella!

This is a novella that connects to multiple Ruby Dixon worlds, the Risdaverse series and also part of the Corsairs series. But very lightly to both and can def be read as a standalone or as part of either series.

Chloe is a human who was abducted and taken to a maximum security prison planet. Humans are extremely rare and unknown to many amongst the aliens she encounters there. A guard and the few other women there, tell her told unless she has a protector she’s willing to give herself to, she might be in all sorts of danger. While distraught over this situation, Chloe notices Jutari, a big blue alien who waves at her. Jutari is a prisoner there too and as soon as he spots Chloe, he knows she’s his mate. He just has to bide his time until he can get to her and they can escape together.

When she gets tossed in a cell with Jutari and others as a punishment to be “used up”, Chloe finds herself with her very own protector and someone who has an escape plan from the prison planet! Jutari is an ex-assassin and also brothers with Kivian (The Corsair’s Captive), if you’ve read that book you see Jutari and Chloe living together happily.

This was just a quick, short read, and a lot of fun with some dangerous stakes! If you are familiar with Ruby books you will enjoy the mentions and glimpses of many characters that could/do fit into her other series (IPB, Fireblood Dragon, Corsairs).

great story, not so great female narrator

I liked this story. Another great addition to the Corsair's universe. Mason Lloyd is once again amazing! He always reads as if the book was written just for him to narrate. He gives every character their own quirks and personality. I'm starting to dislike Jillian Macie as a narrator. Any book she reads she gives the lead female and lead male the same voice and personality as she does for any other book she narrates. Female always sounds like a combination of whiney and bored. Male always sounds husky and like she just got done having sex. EVERY BOOK! She gives supporting characters more personality than the leads. I wish Ruby Dixon would stick with Hollie Jackson. If not her than Noelle Bridges or Felicity Munroe. If not for Mason Lloyd and my love of Ruby Dixon, I may have skipped buying this book.

Great story

I love this story. Ruby is great at world building and witty conversations. The male narrator was amazing but the female narrator ruined it for me. So overdramatic with exaggerated conversations made me cringe and fast forward through her parts.

Meh...

I'm a RD fan. I have 20+ of her books and this is the first one I felt disappointed with. The story is so so and the characters are severely underdeveloped. Too many romance writers make the chick fall in love with the dude too soon. RD usually spends a lot of time developing the characters first... but this one felt too fast and sloppy. Prison break, they love each other, the end.

Okay for the jailbreak lol

But in real life . . . Noku irritated me and can get these hands! I hate males like him. Other than that, I loved reading Chloe and Jutari's story.

Captivating

Quite a twist on paranormal romance. Held my attention and was not too long or too short. Narrators did a good job with characters. Will follow the series.
