    "NOT A SERIES"

Good book, I was waiting for book 2, and asked about it on Diane Chamberlain Facebook page. This is not a series, there is NO book 2. I have contacted Audible, and so have Diane Chamberlain's people. Audible gave me a publishers phone number to report it, I did and passed the number to Diane Chamberlains page. It seems AUDIBLE OR PUBLISHERS WONT FIX IT. Just wanted to pass that along to anyone else waiting for next book.

    "Predictable & Relentlessly One Dimensional"

I found this whole story implausible in the extreme. Even the smallest detail becomes ridiculous if you think about it for more than a minute. Nothing is believable, based in the real world or makes any sense at all. Zero thriller in this "chick-lit" snoozer. What a total waste of time.

"I can't think of anything more predictable..."

The narration for this audio book is great. Thank heavens for that, because the writing is terrible. If you are anything above a 5th grade reading and comprehension level, you'll see every single "plot twist" coming from a mile away. Seriously, reading this book so frustrating because the characters took what seemed like ages to piece together very simple facts to reveal what was happening.

    "A bit of a miss"
What would have made The Silent Sister better?

The plot had more valleys than peaks. It took a while for the major plot twists to come together into a fully-formed story. I wanted to finish the book to see what happened, but I didn't feel vested in the story or the characters.

What could Diane Chamberlain have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Make the plot twists more dramatic. I felt like many of the main points of the story were casually dropped in and didn't connect to the main plot.

Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Bennett’s performances?

Unfortunately, no. Her tone reminded me of a whiny Sally Field, and she took a lot of unnecessary pauses.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It wasn't bad enough for me to request a refund on my credit, but I'd hardly call this a compelling story. Would not recommend to a friend.

"By far, the BEST D.C. novel so far !!"

Loved the story, and the mystery with all the twists and turns. Loved the narration, and the fact that it says "Book 1" in the title, already has me looking forward to the next one

    Story
"Love it or Hate it? Neither -- its just average"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really. The book was predictable and the most interesting part of the story didn't even begin until we were almost halfway into the book -- that is Jade;s life and its limitations. The blurb on the back of the book coerced me into reading this book. I expected the sisterly relationship to be explored, but instead a third of the story was spent just setting up the story - Riley is cleaning out her dad's house and wishing for a better relationship with her brother. Page 1, page 3, page 47 ... all the same. Boring.

It isn't terrible, so I didn't return the book. But it isn't good either. The plot twisted several times -- but I guessed where it was going next every single time.

Has The Silent Sister turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No.

Could you see The Silent Sister being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, if they made it about the story of the sisters and their pasts.

    "Not My Cup of Tea"

This audio had an excellent narrator and that made it possible to keep listening. I am not one that is good at guessing plots but this book was so predictable that it was ridiculous. I feel like this author is one step above Danielle Steele. If you want an easy listening experience that is really mindless you might enjoy this, but otherwise save your credits for something that is written better and has a bit more substance

"Great story, kept me reading until late at night"

The Silent Sister contains much of Diane Chamberlain's usual formatting in writing a work of fiction. We have a confused woman who is trying to make sense of her family, and a ton of secrets behind the scenes that are slowly seeking their way to the top.

Riley is a high school counselor. Her father is in ill health, and when he dies she discovers that long ago, she had a sister. Her brother is an ex veteran and isn't really interested in talking about the sister, who apparently committed suicide. However, as Riley digs deeper, she finds that her sister Jade's death was a big lie. Why would her family go to all of the trouble to fake her death and move her? There is an excellent reason why.

The Silent Sister moves quickly and is packed full of juicy twists and turns. The main character is likable and the story on the whole is very well done. The narration was impeccable and this is an overall good audiobook which I enjoyed tremendously.

    Solid 4/5 stars
