Publisher's summary

FBI Profiler Pierce Quincy and Officer Rainie Conner return in a baffling cold case in this short story by New York Times best-selling author Lisa Gardner.

A young woman is found strangled in the stairwell of a college library, only her sneakers missing. With no physical evidence, no signs of sexual assault, and no witnesses, all the police have to go on are the three men who were in the library with her: her boyfriend and two campus security guards...all of whom have secrets, none of whom can be proven guilty.

Five years later, ex-FBI profiler Pierce Quincy and his wife, former police officer Rainie Conner, agree to consult on the still-unsolved case, delving into deep background to comb for any clue that will lead to the woman's murderer. But with no leads and the case colder than the body, will they be able to build a case against one of the three suspects, or is there a fourth man out there? And if the killer has eluded the police this long, how far will he go to ensure justice is never served?

With Gardner's singular ability to delve into the minds of criminals and law enforcement alike, "The 4th Man" is a shocking look at the reasons for taking a life...and just how far profilers need to go to learn them.

It was ok to short

To short, the author rushes through, not much going on but it was an ok read. Not much to talk about so I will leave it at that

The narrators did a great job from true emotions to the pain and sorrow. Great character voices, a nice normal voice. There were no background noises, no volume changes, could not tell when they took a break. They gave you a very enjoyable listen that I totally got lost in.

Enjoyable

Good, short story with a twist. Nice mix between different character series - Quincy/Rainie and D.D. Warren. As always, Luke Daniels is an excellent narrator. Recommend.

Great short story

First be aware this is a short story; therefore, you should not spend the credit. However, it is well worth the $5 or so if you're desperate for a good read (aka 'snack) in between credits. I enjoyed the narration and the plot.

Great short read

The 4th Man (Quincy & Rainie, #6.5), my 21st read from author Lisa Gardener. Another entertaining and well-written read from her. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Luke Daniels . Owning both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while being read to. I look forward to reading more in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

It's all about the shoes!

Almost 9 years after releasing Say Goodbye, the 6th and most recent novel in her FBI Profiler/Pierce Quincy series, Lisa Gardner releases a The 4th Man, a FBI Profiler short story that also includes D.D.Warren and of course Quincy's wife Rainie Connor. Later this month Gardner will release Right Behind You which is the 7th novel in the Quincy/Profiler series.

The 4th Man is an interesting cold case murder mystery set in Boston. The real surprise is that Luke Daniels narrates. She seldom uses male narrators even for male voices (exceptions are Kirby Heyborne once and Mikael Naramore once).

Entertained me thoroughly!

I absolutely loved this story. The setup, the execution, and the reveal. I can say thoroughly that I did not see the ending coming!

Worth listening to while sleeping.

Shorter than first audiobook. Different narrator. He did good. Although I prefer the female narrator.

This is a short story

Good story narration etc but I assumed (without my glasses) that I was downloading a book. My fault but still feel cheated.
