    "Morgan versus Morgan"

As with the first private novel, #1suspect spins multiple mysteries at the same time. I find this keeps the keeps any one of them from dragging out too long.
    Good listen.

    "Very good book"

The book was great. The narrator was good. The first book and narrator combination was practically perfect. If the narrator was a little better, I would have given this 5 stars.

    "I'm hooked!"

I got this book for free, for being an Audible member. Never having been one to love fiction as an adult (I used to read Patterson's books as a teen) I downloaded it at no cost and began to listen. I believe I have listened to 4(?) 'Private' books, thus far.
It must be a sickness. I can't stop.

"Good enough story, new narrator not as good"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Hey, Patterson, or his publisher, or Audible. Changing narrators every book makes this much less enjoyable. If I recognize Jack Morgan's voice in Private, I get a new voice for Private #1 suspect. And it'll be a different narrator for Private Vegas. I won't be buying anymore of this series even though I enjoy Jack Morgan, Mobot, Sy, Justine, etc.

What didn’t you like about Scott Shepherd’s performance?

    he's not the same narrator

"decent whodunit but there are better ones to read"

Do I enjoy detective/whodunit novels? Yes. Do I enjoy a series that features a great detective? Yes. Did I enjoy this book? Yes. But. The book is light on character development and frankly, light in general. Patterson is known for his "NYT top 20" writing style which pleases many precisely because it is not overly challenging. However, this novel lacked Patterson's usual deft touches, and I can only assume it is because Patterson co-wrote it. This is a nice distraction from heavier reads, if that is what you are seeking.

"GREAT listen.... my commute is TOO short!"
Would you listen to Private: #1 Suspect again? Why?

No - but I never do. Once I hear it, I'm done with it. It's a GOOD read, but once I know.... I don't listen again

What other book might you compare Private: #1 Suspect to and why?

I'd only compare it to the first Private - which I loved, and drew me to Private #1. I like that they're giving more in-depth info on each character, especially if the series is going to continue - like Mitch Rapp, the CIA character. However, I didn't at first much care for the reader of this book - but he's grown on me by now (I'm a little over 1/2 way thru).

What does Scott Shepherd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices are key. I compare readers - and some readers just nail it perfectly - the gruffness of the male voice, the accents, etc., which give a deeper "like" to a book when it's read to me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not extreme - just a good reaction that I'm about to kill the brother! lol

    Any additional comments?

I hope the other Privates are as good as the first 2.

"Not nearly as good as the first book in the series."

The storyline was ok, but I didn't like the performance at all! His voice was weak and shaky at times. I didn't care for the different character voices either. I don't know if I'm going to purchase another book.
