Publisher's Summary

A storm struck on the night Laura Shane was born, and there was a strangeness about the weather that people would remember for years. But even more mysterious was the blond-haired stranger who appeared out of nowhere - the man who saved Laura from a fatal delivery.

Years later - after another bolt of lightning - the stranger returned, again to save Laura from tragedy. Was he the guardian angel he seemed? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond time and space?

One of his best?

Any additional comments?

I am writing this review knowing no one will ever read it. I purchased this book during one of the many sales that Audible grace's us with and frankly I am glad that I got it at a reduced price. I gave this story 3 stars but I really do not want to spend my time with an average book and this one is completely average. I actually got this one by reading the reviews and so many raved. This book is very dated and not even close to one of Koontz' best. My suggestion is to pass.

Loved it~

What did you love best about Lightning?

So far I've loved all of Dean Koontz's books; always unexpected, sometimes science fiction, always fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's hard to choose, as they were all so well developed in the story. The good guys/gals were easy to love and the bad guys were those you love to hate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but it certainly kept me intrigued throughout the story.

Any additional comments?

I'd love to comment more, but typical of Koontz, it is so full of surprises that you'll thank me for not being a spoiler. This is a fast moving, fun read/listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

lame story

Good in theory, maybe to existential for me or something but I just didn't like it.

Awesome writing

This was a great read (listen) even though there was a little bit of a letdown with the plot punch. Loved the characters & some of the complexity of the theme. Narrator did a top notch job & acted out the different parts brilliantly.

Slow starting

Any additional comments?

The story started slow, but got better later. I thought it was a mystery, but then I realized it was more science fiction.

Not what I expected

Bought this book on sale because I've read Dean Koone books in the past and liked them. The book is about time travel which I am not normally into but this one had a different twist to it that kept me into it the entire book.

I loved the characters and the way the narrator portrayed them was excellent. You always knew who he was portraying even without him telling you. Although this was a serious book there was much humor in it.

A story about how much the human spirit can tolerate when put to the test again and again. I highly recommend.

As usual Dean Koontz has written an amazing book, gripping and spell bounding from the beginning.

A great introduction to the author

This is my first reading of a Koontz novel and it didn't disappoint. It was action packed and full of twists and turns. My daughter is a fledgling author and I am a mother so the main character resonated with me. I liked the time travel concepts especially.

Should come with explicit warning

Yikes. Though it was alright after skipping thru the part about the pedophile, it was really annoying that there's no mention of such content in the summary
