An Amazon Charts, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller.

From Dean Koontz, the master of suspense, comes an epic thriller about a terrifying killer and the singular compassion it will take to defeat him.

“Canine or human, it is hard to find a more lovable character in fiction than Kipp. Devoted has every mark of a classic.” - Associated Press

Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.

A uniquely gifted dog with a heart as golden as his breed, Kipp is devoted beyond reason to people. When he hears the boy who communicates like he does, without speaking, Kipp knows he needs to find him before it’s too late.

Woody’s fearful suspicions are taking shape. A man driven by a malicious evil has set a depraved plan into motion. And he’s coming after Woody and his mother. The reasons are primal. His powers are growing. And he’s not alone. Only a force greater than evil can stop what’s coming next.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Readers who were wondering how Koontz could possibly follow up his remarkable Jane Hawk series can breathe a sigh of relief. His new novel finds him still at the top of his game…Scary, sickening (in that good way), and touching, this is a novel that will delight both the author's legion of fans and those who finally decide it's time to find out what this guy Koontz is all about." Booklist (starred review)

"A warm, deeply engrossing tale…Not to be missed." Providence Journal

Editor's Pick

It’s not always about what you say…
"It’s also about who’s listening. Packed with a winding story plot and an unforgettable performance by Audie Award-winning narrator, Edoardo Ballerini, Devoted has quickly become a new favorite of mine. Thriller mastermind Dean Koontz tells the suspenseful story of 11-year-old Woody Bookman, a young boy with autism and selective mutism who is actually not as silent as everyone around him may think. Kipp can hear Woody loud and clear, but Kipp just happens to be a dog. Woody always suspected there was something nefarious at play in the mysterious death of his father, but had no one to tell and no proof. Now, the same evil forces seem to have returned to finish off his family for good, and Woody must rely on the help of his faithful golden retriever, Kipp, to protect him and his mother."—Nicole R., Audible Editor

Very much like The Watchers (one of my favorites) but it wimps out at the end.

O…M…G… I loved this book. It was soooo totally different than any other mystery I’ve ever read.

Love, love, loved Megan and her autistic son Woody. Well, and Ben, Rosa, Dorothy, Carson and that wonderful dog Kipp. What a fantastic book.

There were a lot of characters in this, but you really didn’t have to remember a lot of their names. Oh, and all the bad guys got exactly what they deserved, especially, Dorian and Shacket!

And there was no romance. The F-bomb was used 9 times.

As to the narration: Holy crap!!! Edoardo Ballerini was absolutely awesome!

Incredible book and narration..

I loved Lightning, but this had an ending, that to me, beat it! Things didn't follow a usual plot as I would have thought to guess, so it kept me interested! Maybe not an edge of your seat thriller, but a great story that when it ends, (the ending is well done!) you still want more! But this is about heart and a connection that goes beyond common perception. I don't want to ruin anything so I'll stop there. But I hope this helps anyone interested!

Possibly one of Dean's best!

I am a huge fan of Sean Koontz. He loves Golden Retrievers and you can see it in this story. This is an exciting story with a great ending. Don't pass up.

Great Read

An accident at an isolated scientific facility causing hundreds of people to perish with one employee getting away.
Unbeknownst to most but a few, previous experiments of the genetic litellectual and longevity kind passed on to dogs...called club MYSTERIUM.
An austistic 11 year old boy who doesn't communicate and believes through investigations on the dark web called Tragedy that his father was ordered killed 6 years ago by Dorian Lucian CEO of the facility that literally murdered over 1000 people.
Now Woody, his mother, Kipp and other friends must find a way to survive being followed and stalked by the man who ran away from the facility knowing that he has gotten infected. And from hired corporate people that want to kill them.
Fast paced and easy to read. Many different characters introduced but Mr. Koontz is able to bring out their demeanor and personality fairly quickly. Very simple to differentiate the good from the evil.
In spite of all the vicious killings and number of people that die, there still is a gentleness, kindly and loving encounter between boy, man, womem and dog(s).
Recommended for adults but young adults may also enjoy. Thanks.

Knowing Kipp, Bella, Woody

This was an awesome book. All the way up to the ending. The characters and plot were well fleshed out. I was on the edge of my seat as it continued to build. Then...just when I felt the book was really getting ready to take the leap....it ended. Nice and tidy in one chapter. This book had so much potential. Why does an author take all that time to flesh out the plot then just stop?

Ending was very disappointing

This book is Koontz at his best. I may be a bit biased considering the fact that I’d read 100 books about super-dogs and government conspiracies were he to write them. In the end, this is a beautiful story that leaves you feeling hopeful.

Just Beautiful

While this is a well written tale, it requires more immigration to appreciate than I’m willing to invest in a book, even during a pandemic!

You need your immigration on!
