Publisher's Summary

A storm struck on the night Laura Shane was born, and there was a strangeness about the weather that people would remember for years. But even more mysterious was the blond-haired stranger who appeared out of nowhere - the man who saved Laura from a fatal delivery.

Years later - after another bolt of lightning - the stranger returned, again to save Laura from tragedy. Was he the guardian angel he seemed? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond time and space?

Lightning Strikes!

This was my first ever Dean Koontz novel and I loved it. The story went in a place I wasn't expecting but was right up my alley. This book is from 1988 but it aged well; I appreciated the small details that dated it.

Best book from Koontz in a long while.

Mr. Koontz has done a phenomenal job with not waiting to the end of the book to provide action. He does a nice job with developing the book from the very start, keeping your the edge of your sheet from beginning to end. Characters are well-developed and believable. Storyline is unique and gripping.

Lightning was a hit!

4/5; 4 stars; A-

Dean Koontz has been hit and miss for me but this book was a definite hit. He manages to mix good mystery with a bit of paranormal and come out with a kind of weird but compelling story. I appreciate an author who can write a good standalone book and that is what this one is. I recommend it.
Christopher Lane was an excellent narrator.
