Publisher's summary

It was late Friday evening when they discovered the body. The girl had been in the concrete pipe for more than a week. The daytime temperatures were hitting 120 degrees. It was the stench that drew the kids to her. Who was she? Who put her there? Who...killed her? It’s Kate Gazzara's first case, a mind-bending riddle, and as if that wasn’t enough, she has a new partner to cope with.

Check out this gripping, fast-paced thriller, the first in the new Harry Starke spin-off series featuring street-smart Lieutenant Kate Gazzara and a cast of fascinating characters, including the man himself, Harry Starke, and several other old friends. Grab your copy now.

The first in what looks to be a promising series

Jasmine (Lt. Kate Gazzara #1), my sixth read from author Blair Howard and the first in the Lt. Kate Gazzara series. Previously I'd only read the author's Civil War & Civil War/Western Series. Well-written and enjoyable detective fiction. I was been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Angel Clark’s narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Love Blair Howard!

I have really enjoyed this book! This is the best so fare in the Kate stories. The storyline is excellent. The characters made me scratch my head! The ending was priceless! I just was not thrilled with Angel Clark! Her interpretation of men’s voices was loud and shrill. The rest of the narration however was great,! Would definitely recommend!

5+ Stars

This book should be a must read for any book lover who enjoys reading murder/mystery/suspense. It is so well written that it will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to guess who did what to whom. I admit my guess was wrong, but oh well. I would highly recommend this book to others who enjoy a great mystery. I did receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review and I do also review books for Audiobooks Unleashed. Happy reading!

Narrator awful

I liked the story very much, but the narration leaves a lot to be desired. Her voice grated on me. I will finish the book but would like a refund to my account for $8.11. Totally not worth the charge.

Kate's first case has her wondering

Kate Gazzara has her first case since her partner Harry Starke has left the Chattanooga police department. She can't believe who the chief makes her new partner, and boy Kate let's her new partner know she won't put up with any crap. A young girl has been found and Kate has to find her killer. This book takes us through what happens in an investigation and how they go about trying to find the guilty party. If you have read any books in the awesome Harry Starke series, you will know that Kate is/was his girlfriend. So we have some appearances of Harry as he attempts to help Kate in more ways than one. A really great start to this new series. Angel Clark does a good job with the story but she did stumble a couple of times. Not to be critical but I have listened to other books in this series and I have to say I enjoyed the voice of I think it was Renee Maxwell better as she can make herself sound pretty sexy in the right spots.
I received a free code from the publisher to listen to this book on Audible.com. This review is totally my own honest opinion.

Great new spin off

I enjoy Blair Howard and the Harry Stark novels. It is good to see a story with Kate as the lead character. I have listened to other Kate Gazzara stories and have loved all of them.

Great story

JASMINE by Blair Howard. book 1 in "Lt.Kate Gazzara" series
Kate has her first case, without Harry as her partner. The Chief gave her Det Tracy, wonders if he will work out. Everywhere she goes they ask "where's Harry" wonder if that's how it's going to be. Day end, she goes to Harry's, nice way to end a hectic day
Love his books, and his style of writing. This has a nice flow with a woman having the lead. Looking forward to more in this series. Hopefully more also with what Harry as a PI .
The narration was good and brought the story to life.
Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

A hard cop investigates the murder of a teen

Jasmine tells the story of Kate Gazzara’s first case without Harry Starke as her partner, and it’s a great story. However, Kate is not a very nice person. Her treatment of her new partner, in spite of his reputation, which may be well deserved, includes a blatant act of sexual harassment as well as her being just plain old mean and rude. Whether or not he’s a dick, it doesn’t excuse her actions. She never gives him a chance. And he’s not the only one she’s mean to. There is also a tragic event towards the end of the book that could have and should have been prevented if Kate had been more on top of things.

The narrator gives Kate a soft Southern accent which seems contrary to her harsh character but is actually somewhat fitting when you think about it. I had gotten so used to the voice from the Harry Starke books, that it took some getting used to. She does a nice job with the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.
