Publisher's Summary

Sassy, savvy, smart-mouthed bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back in her most thrilling adventure yet! This time she's on the trail of revenge-seeking waitress Maxine Nowicki, who's wanted for theft, extortion, and bail-jumping. Those who have seen Maxine keep turning up dead, and that's the least of Stephanie's problems. She's also dealing with an archrival bounty hunter and an enemy who favors firebombs. The only ones on Stephanie's side are a nutty grandma, an ex-hooker, and a transvestite rock star, plus of course, her loyal hamster Rex. Stephanie's previous escapades have been chronicled in One for the Money, Two for the Dough, and Three to Get Deadly.

Great book but...

The abridged version comes off as rushed and the Debi Mazar is nowhere near as good as the readers for the unabridged versions. She sounds bored half the time and kinda leaves the story dead. Four to Score is one of the more important books in the series so I recommend either reading it or listening to the unabridged audio version. Three stars but the book itself is a five star read.

Love the series!

This is the first time I have read this author and have fallen in love with the Stephanie Plum series. I downloaded all 13 books and listened to them all within a week. I couldn’t wait to hear what adventures (and mishaps!) that Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula and the rest of the gang would get into. I’ve read some of the previous reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others. I disagree that it gets old and complacent that Stephanie finds herself in the same situations in every book. It appears to me that Stephanie’s character is just one of those people that trouble and mayhem seem to find. I do agree that narrator Lori Petty is the voice of Stephanie. Narrator Debi Mazar’s accent is a bit heavy for audio books and then after all this Lorilei King takes over as narrator for the rest of the series. While Ms. King’s character voices are awesome (she has such a range!) her Stephanie voice has no Jersey accent at all and sound just a little too “blue blood”. Otherwise Ms. King is a joy to listen to. You will fall in love with Ranger and Joe! Both are too hot to handle……no wonder Stephanie can’t choose between the two!

Don’t let the narrator changes deter you from listening to this funny charming, and at times mysterious series. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for something light hearted to listen to.

Great book. Poor Narrator: Debi Mazar

Narrator: Debi Mazar has such an Obnoxious voice and sounds like she is hurrying to get through the reading like it is the last thing on earth she wants to do. Too bad for Janet Evanovich, a great author, the audible book is made so bad by the Narrator: Debi Mazar that I would not buy it.
High Five and Hot Six are also read by this girl so aavoid all three.

fun

i thought this book was hysterical. a perfect combination of mystery and humor...and debi mazar's voice was the right fit for the jersey girl in the story.

Could have been good

I am a huge Janet Evanovich fan, and love to read the books, so I thought I would try an audible version. What could have been another fun escape was ruined by the narrator of this book. She talked so fast (which I do acknowledge is a Jersey trait) I couldn't understand portions of the book, and in other parts she read without any expression portions that could have been lively. It sounded as if the book was probably as good as the others in the Stephanie Plum series, but I would read the actual text rather than subject myself to this terrible narration. 2 stars for the story, but at least 3 off for the presentation.

I loved reading them

these abridged books are just so disappointing. I could read it better myself. hopefully they'll remake these someday with narrators like Angel Clark.

Another Great Story

Love Stephanie Plum. The Narrator in the first two books was completely different! I formed a vision of Stephanie, that was completely smashed in the next two books. Very unheartning. Almost gave up on the b,ook series.

Reader stinks!

We love these stories but this one was disappointing due to the poor quality of the narration. The reader reads WAY too fast and has extremely sloppy diction. As a result, there were large chunks that you couldn't understand. A disappointment.

This is abridged!

Would you try another book from Janet Evanovich and/or Debi Mazar?

Maybe.

Any additional comments?

There needs to be a permanent account setting that allows one to block any abridged version. I NEVER want an abridged version. What a waste of money.
