Publisher's Summary

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos. Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, is caught on video just minutes before the crime occurs. He's at the scene, he's with the victim, and he's the number-one suspect. Ranger is former special forces turned soldier of fortune. He has a blue-chip stock portfolio and no known address. He moves in mysterious circles. He's Stephanie's mentor - the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend.

Now he's the hunted and Stephanie's the hunter, and it's time for her to test her skills against the master. But if she does catch him...what then? Can she bring herself to turn him in? Plus there are other things keeping Stephanie awake at night. Her grandmother has set up housekeeping in Stephanie's apartment, a homicidal maniac has selected Stephanie as his next victim, her love life is in the toilet, she's adopted a dog with an eating disorder, and she can't button the top snap on her Levi's.

Hot Six

sorry to say but this Narrater leaves everything to be desired. She can barely distinquish between charactors and it makes the story very boring. I am actually having to pay more attention to the story to stay up with who is supppose to be talking.

Not that bad

I don't think it is bad at all. It's not the best of the series but surely not the worst. I didn't think the reader was as bad as portrayed either. Growing up in Chicagoland I didn't have any trouble with her accent, in fact I think it gives the read a little character.
The only thing I hate is paying $11 for 3 hrs.

i want the full story not the abridged vershion

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

i am not a fan of this abridged recording.

Would you be willing to try another book from Janet Evanovich? Why or why not?

i like the janet evanovich books about stephine plum they are good stories.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

New narrator please

I usually love the Stephanie Plum books and probably would have loved this one if it weren't for the horrible voice of the narrator. Make sure you listen to the samples first.

re-record needed

I wish books 4, 5 and 6 (especially) would be re-recorded. I like Debi Mazar as an actress in the right part, but she is a terrible narrator. I wanted all of Janet's books on audio but I really hate unabridged books and I really, really disliked the narration by Debi. I may return 4 and 5 too and hope that those 3 books will be re-recorded someday.

Reader is very boring

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I listened to the first 4 books and was quit intertained by the reader. I just down loaded 5 and 6 and started with six and wish I had not bought either. Very dispointed in the reader. Just listed to a little of 7 and wish I had gone stright to 7 and skipped 5 and 6 what a waste of money. I will buy those two and read them my self.

Would you recommend Hot Six to your friends? Why or why not?

No, not on audible

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Debi Mazar?

The one who did the first 4 she was great.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hot Six?

Not sure had to quit listening I couldn't stand listening to the narrator any longer

Any additional comments?

Yes I would like a refund on 5 and 6.

Story is good- Narrator not so much

Would you try another book from Janet Evanovich and/or Debi Mazar?

I have almost all of the Plum books in audio and print versions. I have enjoyed almost all of them, but I could not tolerate the monotonous presentation of this story by the narrator. It became difficult to stay focused on the plot line.

How could the performance have been better?

Other narrators in this series actually act out the story by using inflection and different voices. This narrator simply reads the story in a monotone voice with a very heavy accent.

Was Hot Six worth the listening time?

I finally turned it off about 1/3 of the way through.

Terrible Narration

What didn’t you like about Debi Mazar’s performance?

Mazar read the book way too fast. She didn't take any pauses! Not between different characters lines, and not between paragraphs. This made it difficult to tell who was speaking and even if there was a new scene.

A little bit unbelievable. The music doesn't really work. I still miss the original reader.
