This book has its own voice, genuine and authentic.

Gwenna used a brutally honest, genuine and authentic way to write this book. I've been looking at ways to break the generational trauma I have and am continuing to pass onto my kids. This book gave me realistic ideas relayed in a perfect sarcastic way that wasn't preachy or perfect. This book is just chefs kiss 😘. I will be rereading this for many years to come.

Amazing Book!

I listened to the audio book rather than read the book and she did an amazing job at reading it like she was telling a story rather than reading from text. I had a lot of lightbulb moments while listening to the book and found myself nodding my head to so much of her tips and and parenting ideas. I truly loved this book and feel like I'm able to take a lot of it and apply it to my own parenting. Because even though I have 4 kids, most of the time I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing. Amazing job Gwenna! Stellar book!

Relatable and true to who the author presents herself to be...

My husband and I do not currently have children of our own, but we are involved in the lives of our nieces and nephews. I have followed Gwenna on social media for years and was long awaiting this book release to help me to heal from my own reactive states due to being raised by reactive and often abusive parents.

This book has brought another piece of healing into my "parenting" style as well as broken down many ways to regulate both myself as well as the children who I am a part of influencing their growth into fully formed human beings. I will always be grateful for all the forms of media that "MommaCusses" chooses to put out to help people like me, but this one is probably the most influencial one yet for me in particular.

Healing and choosing to be responsive/gentle to children rather than reactive when that is all that has ever been modelled within my presence is one of the hardest things I have ever chosen to do. I am so greatly appreciative that this book has come out before I have "my first pancake" to help me learn prior to passing those same traumas onto my own children.

I very highly recommend this for anyone interested in healing their own reactive states, and becoming more responsive towards others in your life, even if you never plan to have children, but especially if you are in an influencial role (ie. parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, ECT.) within a child's life and have no good role models to look back on for reference.

Gwenna herself has said many times, even in the first few chapters of this book, that it is never going to be too late to change your parenting style and heal from the hurt, it takes time and effort but is so worth doing. This is one small step in the right direction of bettering the influence you are within a child's life-but so worth the time and effort it takes to read and apply any and all concepts to your life as necessary and beneficial for your own family.

Thank you, Gwenna, for a wonderful book filled with relatable anecdotal references to the struggles of being reactive and raised by a reactive parent. This is a book I am going to read multiple times over, and annotate thoroughly as I break-down all of my own personal experiences and how to best apply each of the learned concepts throughout this novel.

I will Re listen. Loved!

There’s really nothing I dislike about this book. Please be aware she cusses, hints her name. It’s not a lot but she does drop the “$4 words” and I would roll my eyes so hard if I read a comment that said something to the effect of “didn’t like because she swears” or “too much cussing, so unnecessary”. 🙄If you’re faint of heart and would fall over at the sound of the F word, don’t read it. Leave it for the rest of us trying to support a real mom

impressively thought provoking and hilarious

not only does she give you outstanding, useful information you can literally start using right away, but she hands it to you on a silver platter of witty, charming, relatable, HILARIOUS experiences. absolutely impressed. I've read quite a few parenting books trying to get a hankering on this so called parenting lifestyle I'm trying to figure out still and not knowing how to explain what I'm trying for (my oldest is 21 and youngest 6) and this book hit the nail right on the head for every single aspect I was searching for. I can not thank you enough for writing this. and I'm so happy I found it! I will be listening to it a few times over!

An amusing tool for re-parenting yourself

I could be here for hours writing the list of what I did like. It’s humorous, an easy listen, and super gentle and considerate in the delivery. Maybe above all else though, Gwenna is candid, generous, and kind. I am one of her YouTube fans, but I listened to this book in hopes of gaining resources to “re-parent” myself. As a child who grew up in a hostile home due to emotionally and somewhat mentally incapacitated parents, this book brought me a lot of emotional comfort and hope.

Relatable, Honest, and Realistic

the beginning of this book made me CRY! she acknowledges that the average parent is trying and is constantly worried about doing enough. this book was super informative and made me feel like I was talking to another mom about my own kids! I 10000% recommend this book to any young moms (had my first at 21, am now 25), or especially any moms trying to break cycles in their parenting strategies.
