Fun, Full Throttle Action

This imaginative, futuristic military science fiction thriller series written by Joshua James is filled with virtually non-stop action. There is graphic violence, graphic language and gallows humor - ubiquitous Marine culture. The story is clever and brilliantly delivered with plenty of plot twists, betrayals, ulterior motives and snark. Each character is well crafted with their own unique complex personality. The main character, Lucky, is a bio-engineered Space Marine with an implanted female AI named Rocky, with advanced tactics, nanobots to provide enhanced healing and specialized cutting-edge tech and combat gear to improve his chances of survival. I especially enjoyed the evolving relationship and conversations between Lucky and Rocky. Rocky is a flawed, reluctant hero troubled with intriguing lost memories, nightmares, and unique insights. No spoilers. The narration by Mark Boyett was outstandingly entertaining and provided me with hours of listening pleasure. I was provided a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Good space opera

Lots of fun; Space opera is alive and well! The narration is excellent, and the story above average...enjoy!

If you like Mark reading about advanced technology and badass weapons in the hands of Marines then this is for you.

Couldn't stop listening

Man I really enjoyed this box set. I'm a truck driver and boy this had me hooked. Great action, story and characters I need more.

Not immersive but finish-able

The story is interesting but somehow, it never pulls you in. I listen to a lot of titles and I am spoiled I suppose. This series never really grabs your imagination to take you somewhere. The military part of the Scifi doesn't seem to be written by someone with military experience. The author was careful not to date his work with any current tech memes but that kinda hurts it too in some ways. The Science part of the Scifi is vague and a little silly. Worth buying but not likely to be enjoyed again for years.

If you like Marine battle stories, if it a try. Good syfi war story you get in to character.

Fun ride

Start to finish it’s gets rolling and doesn’t stop.
Lucky is the least likely hero and leader. And the audio performance was amazing

Was not overly impressed by the story, did not keep my attention

I listen to many SyFy stories, and this one was not as captivating as most. The narration was good, but the storyline was not all that compelling.

am I supposed to care about them

to start the voice actor isn't strictly bad there's moments on inflection and nuance to the voice but it never seems to reach what it needs too. as for the story I can't seem to tell I'm supposed to care about who these people are. I get that we have a main character but the way he hates himself and everything going on its hard to really care what's happening to him.
